Bega High P&C

Bega High P&C Bega High P&C's purpose is to support our teachers, students & families to build a stronger school community. Together, we can make a difference!

We meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5.30pm in the school front office - everyone is welcome to attend 😊 Bega High School P&C Association is a school-based organisation consisting of highly dedicated parents and carers, teachers and community members. We recognise the importance of a community voice in supporting our students and meet regularly to contribute to decision-making, developing poli

cies and management plans as well as fundraising. The P&C is established to:

- Promote the interests of our school, by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close co-operation
- Assist in providing extra facilities and equipment for our school, and to promote the recreation and welfare of the students at our school
- Encourage parent and community participation in curriculum and other educational issues in the school
- Participating in staff employment selection committees (after attending a short seminar presented by the Education Department)
- Assist and co-operate with teaching staff at public functions associated with the school

It is the responsibility of our P&C Association to conduct the election of parent representatives for the Executive Committee. Our P&C is an unincorporated member of the Federation of P&C Associations and abides by the rules and guidelines of this body. All families at Bega High School are welcome and encouraged to participate in the P&C Association meetings and activities. We facilitate a positive, relaxed and fun forum to enable discussion and development of ideas with parents and staff. Together we can create an even better school for our students, and through increased communication at our meetings, enable future community relationships to flourish, benefitting all at Bega High School. Meetings are usually held the second Tuesday of each month starting at 5.30pm, and we meet at the Front Office meeting room. There is an optional membership fee of $2 per year which ensures your voting rights at meetings and also allows you to hold a position in the Executive Committee if voted in, but you are more than welcome to just come along to the meeting to present ideas and feedback as a non-member. There are many ways that you can support the P&C and its activities – as a non-member and as a member. You can:

• Donate second-hand uniforms, calculators, sports equipment, music equipment, art supplies, textbooks etc
• Attend and support or volunteer at events and fundraisers
• Spread the word about P&C activities
• Like and Follow the Bega high School P&C page here for updates
• Provide sponsorship or financial donations to support P&C activities

Email [email protected] for more information on how to get involved. We invite and encourage all members of the Bega Community to join the P&C, participate in meetings, share insights, and volunteer for various initiatives. The array of involvement opportunities caters to diverse interests, and those keen on contributing are encouraged to connect with us via email or Facebook to offer their support. Join us in effecting positive change and shaping the educational landscape for the benefit of our children.

Thanks to everyone who attended last month's Bega High School P&C meeting!

There’s always plenty happening behind the scenes, and we love sharing how the P&C helps support our students, school and wider community.

Some highlights from this month’s meeting included:

🌿 Support for two fantastic Student Captain projects
🎶 Funding support towards the SCLC Music Camp helping make participation more accessible for families
🚌 Funding support towards transport costs for students attending Zone Athletics in Cooma, helping make participation more accessible for families
âš½ Approval for new soccer goal nets x 4 and additional soccer balls for students to use during break times after the current goals proved hugely popular with students
🛠 Planning continues for future working bees and improvements around the school grounds, including ideas for the Year 7 quad gardens and small paint jobs. Next Working Bee is set for Saturday 20th June 9.30am to 12.30pm
🎯 We also discussed future grant opportunities, upcoming community events, school renovation updates (hello new bathrooms!) and ways we can continue supporting students through fundraising and volunteering

Our P&C meetings are open to all parents, carers and community members - you don’t need experience, just an interest in supporting our school community. Whether you can volunteer regularly or simply want to stay informed, we’d love to see some new faces at future meetings whether its in person or online!

📅 Next meeting: Tuesday 16th June at 5.30pm

Thank you again to everyone who contributes their time, ideas and energy to help make positive things happen for our students!

Today is National Public Education Day — a time to celebrate our incredible public schools, and the principals, teachers and support staff who work in them.

Public education brings together children and young people from a range of diverse backgrounds and builds a cohesive community which works as one to create equity, hope, and opportunity.

It provides lifelong benefits to students through access to education, improved health, wellbeing and employment.

That’s something to celebrate! 🎉
