Diggers Rest - 'A Soldiers Retreat' The building of a Soldiers Retreat at Quails Ridge Farm for soldiers past & present & their families, who need therapeutic respite for body, mind and soul

A Non-Profit Organization Opening Statement:-

Due to Australia’s involvement in overseas military operations over the last 15 years, our country is witnessing more and more soldiers struggling to cope with the return to normal roles in civilian life. Many of our troops are aware that they are in need of help at some level, but continue the mental struggle in private. We are seeing more and more o

f these scenarios as time passes, as this is taking its toll on our soldiers and their families. Diggers Rest – ‘A Soldiers Retreat’ has been born by the desperate need to reconnect with our soldiers past and present. No soldier needs to struggle alone. The sad truth is that we are losing roughly one Digger a week to su***de. Our Mission:-
To create a friendly, relaxed environment on 22 acres with activities for any soldier, past and present, and his/her family who feels the need to reset their minds. Self-catering accommodation for these soldiers and their families will be free for periods of two to three days at a time. However, any soldiers in need of additional help will be encouraged to return on a regular basis. In addition Diggers Rest will provide supplementary support to the QLD RSL Emergency Short Term Accommodation Policy

To provide adventure and programs designed to give the soldier a mission or task to work towards. Our Objectives:-
To bring any serving, or ex member of the Army to a friendly bush setting environment to recoup and reinvigorate which will help them to be reintroduced back into society . To give soldiers good old fashioned ‘bush time’ around an open fire with their families in an eco-friendly lodge environment. To organize adventure trips into Southern Africa and Australia on a yearly basis. Accommodation and activities provided by Diggers Rest – ‘A Soldiers Retreat’ will be free of charge but any donations from participating families will be accepted. To date, all current funding has been through my (Nick Forster-Jones) private company

50 Donations in the bag for the Brewpig!!

Today’s donation of precious plasma was Kerry's 50th time in the chair! Not bad for a boy that was terrified of needles for most of his life! Australian Red Cross Lifeblood

The lady hooking him up today asked what has motivated him to make so many donations. He told her many friends, family and loved ones have stories where they desperately needed blood… or are fighting some horrible illness. He just couldn’t bear the thought if they were in need and the hospitals cupboard was bare… so to speak.

Kerry's has said he will roll up the sleeve as long as they’ll let him.

And if you’re ever in need… I hope that cupboard is full ❤️

Photo of Sapper Jamie Ronald Larcombe, born on 14 September 1989 on Kangaroo Island, South Australia,
served with the 1st Combat Engineer Regiment in Darwin. A former Country Fire Service volunteer and local footballer, he deployed to Afghanistan in October 2010 as part of Operation Slipper.

On 19 February 2011, at just 21 years old, he was killed in action during an insurgent ambush in the Mirabad Valley, Uruzgan Province, which also claimed the life of an Afghan interpreter.

Remembered as dependable and genuine,
Jamie is honoured at the Australian War Memorial and through the Jamie Larcombe Memorial Recreation Centre on Kangaroo Island.

Burning our flag should be a federal crime 🇦🇺 a mandatory jailable offence 🚔 and a deportable offence ✈️. Men like Jamie Larcombe gave their lives for that flag, and it must be respected as the symbol of their sacrifice.

He was only 21!😢😔🇦🇺🫡🪖
