On Tuesday, following our general meeting, we held our 43rd AGM, where Steve Williams from Coochin Creek Co-Op chaired the election of the following members to the Executive Committee:
President: Patricia Jutila,
Secretary: Linda Platten,
Treasurer: Frank Moroney.
Congratulations to these members.
We also presented 25 year membership badges to Del Davis, Bonnie Breitkreitz and Rita Cruikshank (who unfortunately was unable to attend on the day). They were thanked for their participation and support during this time where they have held positions on both the Executive Committee and Sub Committees.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday 9th June commencing at 9.30am when we will have a guest speaker from the Beerwah Library.

Our outing for April was an eco luncheon cruise on the Maroochy River with Maroochy Cruise Charters. As usual Andrew from Mystic Mountain Tours picked us up and we headed of with drizzling rain. By the time we arrived at the pier after a tour around Cotton Tree the sun was shining. We boarded the boat which is beautifully decked out and headed up the river eating a delightful lunch while being given a very informative talk by the captain. On return the bus was waiting for us and delivered us back to Beerwah safely. A big thank you to Kate and her crew for a very relaxing enjoyable day.
Our next meeting is Tuesday 12th May followed by our 43rd AGM.

Our outing for March was a bus trip to the Scenic Rim. After an early start we headed down the Bruce towards Brisbane then onto the Logan Motorway where we stopped for a cuppa. Leaving there we joined the Cunningham Highway passing Amberley Air Force base, past the Bonah turn off and into the Scenic Rim which gets it’s name from the Great Diving Range which surrounds it forming a basin effect. At Harrisville we stopped at the Summer Land Camel Farm which is home to over 500 camels. In one paddock was a child care group where about 5 older camels minded all the young ones for the day. Some members purchased “blood orange” ice cream which they said was delicious. Next door to the camels is one of the states largest plant nurseries. We next headed to Kalbar where we spent some time looking around the town which is part of the Fassifern Valley. Most homes were all “old Queenslanders” which were beautifully kept. This town is known for its carrot festival which is very popular. Boarding the bus again we headed to Keat’s Lagoon where we stopped at Elderflower Farm for lunch. They had set up tables for us under a large tree, very peaceful and relaxing. We perused the gift shop and the fresh veggie hut before boarding again and heading home crossing Wivenhoe Dam wall and then passing Somerset Dam (both beautiful after the rain) heading to Kilroy, arriving back in Beerwah late afternoon. Our driver Andrew, from Mystic Mountain Tours, gave us interesting commentary during the trip and we would highly recommend this bus company for any group planning an excursion. Our next planned outing is in April to Maroochydore for an Eco luncheon Cruise on the Maroochy River.
