We need you ..... Job Vacancy......MALE Role Only....Our community is looking for a Community and Youth Officer – particularly with a focus on connecting and developing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young men and men.
The following summary is a brief description of who we think it may fit.
The person we are looking for has a solid work history, ethic and is a reliable worker with a strong community heart. They are familiar with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander SEQ context particular Logan and the Beenleigh Logan area.
The person we are looking for demonstrates and committed too no lateral violent but professional and culturally respectful to know that their actions are noticed by community and they in turn represent community in a good way – in all the ways we want Men to be as strength in the community.
The person can work in a team, be managed by both men and women – they are respectful of women and women’s business as they are with men’s. They are able to work with mob from right around Australia including the Torres Strait.
The person has either led or is ready to lead cultural men’s programs and is comfortable teaching, learning and working with young people. They can not only bring in tools but are comfortable learning from this community, our Leaders, Elders and other people of knowledge, skills and understanding. Our community will look to lift you up as you add to our community.
The person will be able to assist in our current programs and help to create new ones through outreach. They will be comfortable performing intensive individual support and small to large group projects.
The person identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander man.

Selection Criteria:
1. Demonstrated community development skills in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
2. Demonstrated analytical and planning skills in project and case management as well as an ability to effectively negotiate and liaise with community organisations, local businesses and relevant government departments.
3. An ability to engage socially and culturally in the Beenleigh/Eagleby/Logan region including an acceptance of the roles of Elders and other leaders, and an understanding of appropriate collaborative and community decision making, community and group work, community participation and engagement.
4. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and interpersonal/team skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people in a variety of settings on an individual, family, group or community basis. Demonstrate ability to keep accurate confidential records for reporting mechanisms used for data collection purposes.
