Yarrabilba parkrun

Yarrabilba parkrun A free, weekly, timed 5k event every Saturday morning at 7am at Darlington Parklands. Everyone is welcome to walk, run or volunteer.

Yarrabilba parkrun is a FREE weekly timed 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 7am at the Yarrabilba Estate, approx 48km south west of Brisbane's CBD. parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. It offers an opportunity for all the local

community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy the beautiful surrounds and get physically active at the same time. We want to encourage people to jog or
run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE!

Yarrabilba wrap up!

After a week of rain, we were grateful to be greeted by a beautiful morning for event #593, with the drizzle staying away and just a few sections underfoot to keep everyone on their toes.

This morning, 73 people crossed the finish line, including four people completing their very first parkrun. Welcome to Adolphe, Erin, Piper and Charlotte. We hope this is the first of many parkruns to come - your parkrun birthday is 13 June!

We also welcomed 11 visitors experiencing Yarrabilba for the first time. Thanks for choosing to spend your Saturday morning with us. We hope you enjoyed our course and hope to see you visiting again soon!

Congratulations to Matt, Christian, Aaron, Lisa and Kerrin, who all recorded personal bests today, and to our milestone achievers: Ray Carter (25), Kylie Russell (50), Kylie Sampson (50) and Michelle Bass (100). These milestones represent countless kilometres, early starts and Saturday mornings well spent.

A huge thank you to our volunteers—Zeta, Spencer, Marita, Kenneth, Amanda, Peter and Michelle…. parkrun simply doesn’t happen without you. We are always looking for vollies, so if you’re keen, don’t hesitate to reach out!!

Whether you walked, jogged, ran, volunteered or cheered from the sidelines, thank you for being part of another great Saturday morning at Yarrabilba.

Happy parkrun eve!!

The weekend is nearly here, and we're looking forward to seeing everyone bright and early tomorrow morning!

Mornings are a little cooler, and despite the rain moving on, there is a chance of some drizzle about, so make sure you dress for the conditions. And don't forget that even in the cooler months, hydration is still important.

🧥 Got gear?
Jumpers, keys, drink bottles and other bits and pieces can be left on the table to the left of the briefing area.

🙌 Volunteers
We have a full volunteer roster ready to go this week (thank you, legends!), but we're always looking ahead to future weeks. If you've been thinking about volunteering, take a look at the volunteer rosters on the RD table (to the right) and see where you might be able to pop your name down.

We'd especially love to encourage some first-time volunteers to give it a go! Every role is simple, there's plenty of support, and it's a great way to give back to the parkrun community. Remember, parkrun only happens because of volunteers. Better still, there are several roles you can do and still complete your run or walk!

🐕👶 A couple of reminders
• Dog OR pram — not both.
• Dogs must be on a short, handheld, non-retractable lead at all times.
• Please bring poo bags and help keep our course clean and enjoyable for everyone.

👋 First Timers
If tomorrow is your first visit, or your first time at our event, please attend the First Timers Briefing at approximately 6:45–6:50am. The course sounds far more complicated than it actually is, and the briefing will make everything nice and easy.

🔔 PB Bell Alert!

The cooler months are often PB season, and we've already seen plenty of personal bests tumbling lately!

Before you head out on course tomorrow, take a quick look at your current PB and see what you're chasing. Whether you're aiming to shave off a few seconds or smash through a long-standing goal, we love seeing everyone challenge themselves.

And if you do happen to crush your PB tomorrow, don't forget to give the PB Bell a mighty ring on your way through! Nothing beats celebrating your achievements with the parkrun community.

⏰ Morning Timeline (approximate)
6:30am – Volunteers arrive
6:45am – First Timers Briefing
6:50am – Main Event Briefing
7:00am – GO!

Whether you're chasing a PB, enjoying a social stroll, volunteering for the first time, or simply turning up for your weekly dose of parkrun magic, we can't wait to see you tomorrow.

📣 VOLUNTEER CALL-OUT

Our roster is looking fantastic this week, with every role filled except for the First Timers Welcome.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering but weren’t quite sure where to start, this is the perfect opportunity! No experience is needed, and we’ll make sure you’re supported every step of the way.

Whether you’re a seasoned parkrunner or you’ve never volunteered before, why not have a crack? It’s a great way to give back to our amazing Yarrabilba parkrun community, meet new people, and help make parkrun happen each week.

Drop us a comment or send us a message if you’d like to give the First Timers Welcome role a go. We promise it’s easier than you think! 😊

Well as predicted, it started around 7 degrees 🥶 this morning but soon the 87 finishers were warmed up after their 5km today! So warm that done if you were positively steaming at the end!

Well done to all who braved the cold and came out in their Queensland colours for parkrun at Yarrabilba this morning!

We had 14 PBs (running faster to stay warmer) and 17 people doing Yarrabilba parkrun as a tourist or a brand new parkrunners- welcome and we hope to see you back here.

Congratulations to the Roxanne H on her 50th run with her “understated” 50 sash that she ran in today 😂

Of course these results could not have been possible without the volunteer crew-thanks to ground crew : Plogger, Mel, Carl, Luke, Peter, Spencer, Shane and Lee and of course our awesome Pacers- Anthony, Sal, Shane and Keren.

Spencer took a few photos which are uploading- and results link is below (and should be in your email inbox as well).

Your RD next week is Brooke, have a great rest of weekend, stay warm!
