How We Began...

Beaconsfield Park Inc is a not-for-profit organisation, established in the 1960's. Our organisation is run by a voluntary Board of Management consisting of eight members who live in the local area. A Manager and Grounds/Maintenance personnel work with the Board on the daily running of the complex. When concerned health professionals first formed Beaconsfield Park more than 50 year

s ago it was because they were concerned about housing affordability for senior citizens. They realised that for many people, especially those who had lived and worked on the land but didn't own their own home, there was nowhere locally for them to live out their retirement that didn't require a major investment. With the help of the local community, the not-for-profit organisation was formed and a steering committee elected. ​One bedroom units were built on granted land opposite the Beaconsfield Hospital (now known as Beaconsfield District Health Service). These units were then rented to senior citizens at a reasonable rate.
