As National Volunteers Week comes to a close, we simply want to say thank you.

Thank you to every member of Mt Baw Baw Volunteer Ski Patrol Inc — past and present — who has helped protect, support and serve the community at Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort.

More than 1,440 volunteer hours.
More than 250 years of combined experience.
Countless acts of service, teamwork and community spirit.

Volunteers do not keep mountains running for recognition.
They do it because they care.

And this week, we celebrate them.

Volunteer ski patrol has been part of the culture and history of Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort for generations.

The knowledge, culture and operational experience built by volunteers over decades continues to help support the resort today.

More than 250 years of combined patrol experience exists within the current volunteer patrol community alone — an incredible legacy of service to the mountain.

National Volunteers Week is about recognising that volunteer organisations are not just support groups — they are often critical parts of regional communities and operations.

Teachers. Nurses. Business owners. Students. Parents. Retirees and more.

Experience matters on a mountain.

The volunteer patrollers of Mt Baw Baw Volunteer Ski Patrol Inc bring together more than 250 years of combined patrolling experience.

That experience has been built through storms, rescues, medical responses, training days, beginner programs and decades of supporting the safe operation of Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort.

Many volunteer patrollers have also helped train and mentor newer generations of alpine staff and patrollers over the years.

National Volunteers Week is about recognising the people whose knowledge, commitment and quiet dedication help keep mountain communities alive.

Did you know that the majority of ski patrollers at Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort are volunteers?

That means every winter local community members give up weekends, holidays and countless early mornings to help keep the resort operating safely.

More than 1,440 volunteer hours are donated by members of Mt Baw Baw Volunteer Ski Patrol Inc each season and we have been doing it for 50 years.

That is time freely given to support visitors, families, beginner snow users and the broader mountain community.

National Volunteers Week is a reminder that community-run organisations still matter — and Mt Baw Baw has one of the strongest volunteer cultures in alpine Victoria.

This National Volunteers Week we celebrate the incredible people behind Mt Baw Baw Volunteer Ski Patrol ❤️

Every winter, the majority of ski patrollers servicing Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort are volunteers who donate their time, skills and years of experience to help keep the mountain community safe.

Collectively our volunteer patrol contributes more than 1,440 volunteer patrol hours each season and brings together more than 250 years of combined patrolling experience.

From first aid and rescues to storm days, training, mountain operations and community support — volunteers are part of what keeps Mt Baw Baw running.

This week we celebrate every current and former volunteer who has stood on the hill and answered the call to help others.

Today we celebrate the incredible mums who help keep our mountain community strong. ❤️

Whether volunteering on patrol, supporting behind the scenes by locating those missing gloves, packing enough snacks for a small army, or reminding patrollers where they left literally everything — your contribution matters more than words can say.

And of course, encouraging the next generation of patrollers to love the mountain just as much as we do. ⛷️

Happy Mother’s Day from everyone at Mt Baw Baw Volunteer Ski Patrol Inc.
