CEMETERY WANDER

4 April 1876 was an important day in Bathurst’s story: the day when the railway opened in town. This event changed Bathurst in many ways, including the provision of many employment opportunities. Join members of Bathurst Family History Group for a wander around a section of Bathurst General Cemetery to learn some of the railway stories behind the headstones. Enjoy a delicious afternoon tea supplied by the Group. Bring a hat, water and sunscreen. Please wear sturdy walking shoes.

Our first General Meeting for 2026 will be held Saturday 21st at 2pm at Seniors Hall, 176 Russell Street. This will be a Show and Tell with a 1950s and 1960s theme. 🕰🚂

Our Research Centre will be closed on Thurs 12th Feb to allow our volunteers to attend the funeral of the group's founder and Life Member, Carol Churches. A life well lived. Rest in peace Carol.

Our Research Centre reopens on Tues 3rd February 2026 2-4pm., and on Mondays and Thursdays 10-12noon. Our volunteers are always ready to assist you with local research.

Our centre will close on Thursday 18th December for our annual break. Our volunteers will return on Tuesday 3rd February 2026 2-4pm. The centre will then be open on our usual days in February and onwards - Mon and Thurs 10-12noon and Tues 2-4pm.

Should you require research during the break, email your questions to [email protected] and we will answer them as quickly as practicable.
