Another PEX wrapped up at Bathurst.

This time it was 311SQN Gosford, 316SQN Lake Macquarie and 317SQN Taree joining us for a few days on the airfield, with 45 cadets getting a taste of gliding.

For plenty of them, it was their first time around aircraft and their first real look at how a gliding operation runs. From pushing gliders and running wings to getting airborne themselves, it didn't take long before everyone was getting stuck in.

It's always great watching cadets arrive with little or no aviation experience and leave talking about thermals, launches and when they can come back for another flight.

Thanks to all the staff and volunteers who helped make it happen, and to the cadets for bringing plenty of enthusiasm to the airfield. We hope to see you back at Bathurst again soon.

Bathurst Flight just finished up Course 1A FY/2627, the third course for the scholarship Cadets. The crew delivered 205 flights for a total of 57 flight hours.

The single-week course resulted in some great achievements, including 2 first solos! LCDT Max Nguyen and CCPL Eden Subotic both had their first solos. Both the Cadets demonstrated textbook flights, with mint landings. LCDT Harry Gentle got Best Cadet on Course and CCPL Sophia Derwort got Most Improved Pilot. Good stuff guys!

Continuation students and instructors got some upgrades as well. CCPL Ivy Ogilvie-Duggan got her A-Certificate, allowing her to fly solo without direct supervision. AC(AAFC) Josh Lee upgraded to a Level 1 gliding instructor, allowing him to train students to solo standard. CWOFF Brooke Cullen also got her B-Certificate 30 minute solo, getting her close to upgrading.

CCPL Ivy Ogilvie-Duggan 306SQN just achieved her A-Certificate!

Ivy, one of the continuation students, completed her check flight and other subsequent training with AC(AAFC) Josh Lee and met the requirements for an A-Certificate, the first of four certificate levels for glider pilots.
