In the past three weeks, people have been referred to Caring Corner for cooked meals or anything they can cook for their families. We don't normally keep meat, but lately, we've asked for donations to keep some meat for crisis and emergency support.
Message to the community: There are too many people and community groups to mention. Your donations, big or small - non-perishable food items, hats, beanies, socks, jackets, jumpers, blankets, tents, sleeping bags, and swags - brought tears to many people's eyes this week. They kept saying 'thank you,' and we keep saying 'these aren't ours, but from the kind-hearted community we live in.'
Message to mainstream charity organisations and job providers: please do not refer your clients to us for cooked meals. That support is primarily for people who are homeless or hungry. Moreover, cooked meals are prepared at our time and expense. We would also appreciate it if they could get help with something and free warm clothing.
