Looking for a local metal fabricator in Bannockburn/Geelong area to make simple galvanised steel sign frames/stands for 450mm x 300mm coreflute signs (like the attached photo - two legs with crossbar, so we can cable tie at 4 corners, and stick into the ground). Approx x36 of them required.

If you can please let us know if you are able to quote the job!

If you see a deceased kangaroo (or other wildlife) on or beside the road:

• If it has a pink cross, it has already been attended by rescuers. The animal has been confirmed deceased and the pouch checked for joeys. No need to call it in.

• If there is NO pink cross, please call it in straight away. It may still be alive and suffering, or have a joey in the pouch that needs urgent help.

When possible we move bodies well away from the road (behind trees, into long grass or the bush), or at least up against a fence line.

We do this to help prevent secondary roadkill - especially eagles and wedge-tailed eagles coming in to feed. While some rescuers believe leaving them closer raises awareness of high-hit areas, we believe in protecting other wildlife first.

This allows them to return to nature and become part of the ecosystem, providing food for birds of prey and other animals rather than being taken to the tip.

If you hit something - always call it in. Your call makes a real difference. Thank you for caring 💚

What a hell of a morning already...

We were called out to Sandy Creek Rd at 5.30am this morning for the euthanasia of a male Eastern Grey kangaroo that had been hit by a vehicle.
A massive thank you to Trevor from Ford Proving Ground for doing the right thing and calling it in 💚

Unfortunately, our team also came across another 6 deceased kangaroos left on or beside the road.

Only one of those was called in by a passer-by. One!!
None were called in by the drivers who hit them.

If you hit an animal, please call it in. Even if it seems too late, it gives us the chance to check on the animal, prevent suffering, and keep our roads safer for everyone.

Your call really does make a difference.

Heads up everyone! The full moon rises tonight and our wildlife will be out and about much more than usual. Kangaroos, wallabies, possums and other natives love these bright nights and can suddenly appear on the roads.

We’re asking all drivers in the area to please take extra care over the next few nights.
Slow down after dark, use your high beams where safe, and keep a close eye on the verges.

Your vigilance really does save lives 💚
If you spot an injured or orphaned animal, contact us anytime:

Heartbreaking rescue in Inverleigh Common today 💔

A female kangaroo, believed to have been hit by a motorbike, was left suffering in a puddle with a broken hip.
Her joey had emerged from the pouch and tragically drowned in the cold water.

The mother somehow dragged herself about 5 metres out of the puddle - saturated, freezing, and in agony - but couldn’t go any further. She lay there dying beside her joey.

Nothing deserves to die a slow painful death 😭

Thankfully, a kind gentleman Riley walking/driving through the bush found them both. This is the brutal reality wildlife faces.

Please drive carefully, especially at dawn and dusk in kangaroo areas. Slow down and stay alert. Report injured wildlife immediately.

Rest in peace, beautiful mum and bub. You didn’t deserve this.

Sandy Creek Road, Little River - One of our worst wildlife hot spots.

Heavy trucks and traffic pour in and out of the quarries and Ford Proving Ground every day. Kangaroos and wallabies are regularly hit here, it’s rare for our rescuers to drive this road without finding dead or dying animals left on or beside it.

Calls from the public? Rare and this needs to change!

If you’re driving Sandy Creek Rd and you hit a macropod or spot one injured or dead:
Just make the call.
No need to touch the animal or put yourself in harm’s way.
Take a minute, Safely pull over and drop a Google pin, Google “Wildlife Rescue Near Me” or ring Wildlife Victoria (03) 8400 7300 (24/7) and report it.

Sandy Creek Rd is taking a heavy toll on our local wildlife. Let’s start looking out for them.

See it → Report it 💚

🌟 Happy National Volunteer Week from Bannockburn Wildlife Rescue! 🌟

Today we shine the spotlight on our youngest heroes - the amazing kids who volunteer alongside us 💚

Whether it’s late night call-outs, early morning rescues or transports across the Golden Plains Shire and Geelong City Council areas, these children step up without hesitation.
They help with rescues, provide comfort to injured wildlife, and witness both the tough and beautiful sides of wildlife rescue.

While other kids are sleeping, ours are out learning lessons you can’t find in any classroom:
• Deep compassion for all living creatures
• Selflessness and teamwork under pressure
• Resilience, responsibility, and respect for nature

They’re not just helping today - they are becoming the next generation of wildlife rescue 🦘

We are so incredibly proud of every one of them. Their big hearts and willingness to help at all hours give us so much hope for the future of our native animals.
