We love hosting students who come to learn about Saltbush. We are constantly impressed at how they not only arrive with open minds and hearts, ready to learn about community and hospitality, but also with enthusiasm to get their hands dirty too and help make a real difference. Thanks so much to the Kildare Ministries school leaders who visited us recently, such a positive and joyful group, it was a pleasure to welcome you here!

It takes an incredible amount of work to create a beautiful native garden from scratch, but with a team of amazing volunteers, it's truly impressive what can be accomplished in a short time! Huge thanks to Community Bank Balnarring & District for the grant to buy all the things we needed to bring this fabulous garden to life. Not only will it be a haven for birds and insects, it will help create privacy between Houses 1 and 2, and be a soothing, restorative way for our guests to connect to nature. Thanks so much to all involved!

With September holidays just around the corner, it's worth remembering that getting out into nature is so beneficial to our young ones. Not everyone has the opportunity to get into beautiful wilderness though, which is why Saltbush provides restoring breaks in nature to people who may not otherwise get the chance to.

New research has shown that living near green spaces can improve children’s cognitive development.

Thanks to everyone who turned up to help with our recent Community Planting Day - special thanks to Merricks Coolart Catchment Landcare Group for helping with the organisation and Trust for Nature for the grant. Thanks too of course to the Presentation Sisters, especially Sister Joan, who brought this whole project to life in the first place and is still so hands on with us!
This under-storey will support critical habitat for local wildlife and continue the incredible work to restore and regenerate this land that has been many years in the making. The ground, would you believe it, was actually quite dry in places when we planted, so this recent rain will be supporting these tender little plants with their first soaking and hopefully help them bed in for summer.
Stay tuned for the next planting day when the ground is not quite so wet!

Wow! Look at how full the billabong is! This incredible rain has filled the billabong for the first time in a long time, and the frogs, birds and insects are really loving it. It feels so magical here and we are so grateful for the water that we know has been quite damaging in other places, and may be much needed in months to come. Right here, right now, this is simply beautiful.

It is really special where we are at Saltbush. Being surrounded by nature, close to the beach, and in such peaceful surroundings is so important to our guests. But there's another secret ingredient that makes stays at Saltbush so unique and amazing - which is of course our frontline staff. Kind, understanding and patient, Saltbush would not be what it is without these very special humans doing a very special job. We are so grateful for your loving dedication, and are so glad that our guests feel the same way too!
