Firefighter Russell found a turtle at the Rocklands blaze. It was relocated off the black. We’re always on the lookout for wildlife trapped in a fire zone.

Balmoral crews were called out last night to an emergency column of smoke near Rocklands.

The fire was mostly in Yat Nat State Forest before it came out onto some farmland Crews from everywhere including multiple strike teams came out to assist all is under control at this moment. But things could always pick back up stay vigilant.

Balmoral tanker one and tanker two did an excellent job of helping to stop the fire front. Good news all around crews also helped blackout.

Thank-you you to everyone who came to assist and help us in our time of need.🙏

A big thank you goes out to Jeff from the Balmoral CFA after a massive day trip from Balmoral yesterday to the Otways Fire. He is now home safe and well after a very busy 12 hour shift on the fireline plus travel.
His words were “Very busy day. Not good down there.” Thanks again Jeff

This happens all too often all over Victoria, this is why we need to ensure we lock up every time we are away from the station.

Between 1:00 AM and 8:00 AM this morning 12th Jan 2026, someone attempted to break into the Winchelsea Fire Station.
This is truly heartbreaking. Our station is maintained by hardworking volunteers who dedicate countless hours to keeping our equipment ready for emergencies. We pride ourselves on having a clean, well-organized station and ensuring our gear is in top condition so we can respond when our community needs us most.
To think someone would try to steal from those who give their time and energy to protect lives and property is deeply disappointing.
If you saw anything suspicious or have any information, please contact Victoria Police immediately.
Thank you for your continued support of our brigade and volunteers.
