1st Balmain is a member Scouts Australia which is also a member of the worldwide movement of Scouting founded by Lord Baden-Powell in 1907. 1st Balmain was founded soon after in 1914. Since then the group has evolved to include girls and boys and grown to be a respected member of the community.

📞 Have you ever wondered who picks up the phone when you call 000?

🚒 Last night, our Venturer Scouts visited Fire and Rescue NSW at their Alexandria Fire Station and Strategic Operations Centre, to learn about protecting life and property from fire, and the process of dispatching and managing Fire and Rescue teams in emergency situations, HAZMAT incidents, and state, national, and international natural disasters!

Last week our Venturer Scouts took an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Nova 96.9's radio studios in Pyrmont!

Our Venturers learned all about the radio business, from live shows, interstate broadcasts, phone guests, pop stars, and soundboards, to the rise of podcasts and social media content in the radio world. It was a fascinating insight into a world often heard but rarely seen.

A big thank you of course to Rob, Scout Leader and technician at Nova, for this amazing opportunity.

Last weekend, 45 Scouts, Venturer Scouts, and Leaders from every group in Iron Cove District boarded a bus bound for Perisher Valley. Sharing Scouts NSW's Alpine Activity Centre with 2nd Panania, the group enjoyed a packed weekend of alpine activities for badge progressions, or just for fun!

As part of our Youth-Led, Adult-Supported program, 1st Balmain Venturer Scout James worked for over nine months planning as a co-coordinator of the trip, ensuring everyone was kept informed, safe, and maximised their time on the slopes.
