Last week, our team stepped away from the day-to-day for an incredibly inspiring training day facilitated by

We dove deep into the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model—an evidence-based framework that integrates employment and education goals directly into community mental health support.

Why do we love this approach? Because it aligns perfectly with what we believe on the ground. Young people view their education and employment goals as a key component of their healing journey, and a major protective factor for their future well-being.

What an incredible energy to be a part of!

We were so proud to partner on the first ever design sprint at the Byron Connected Learning Centre hosted by last night.

The mission was a powerful one: finding innovative ways to help our frontline team spend less time on paperwork and admin and more time supporting young people.

Seeing the local Northern Rivers community—from students to industry pros—go head-to-head with whiteboards, AI tools, and pure grit was inspiring. A massive congratulations to the winners, and everyone who stepped up to pitch!

Thank you to the whole team for having us on board. This is exactly how we love to see our community come together.

This Youth Week, we aspire for a future where every young person is seen, heard, and supported.

Recent consultation by the Office for Youth NSW has captured the voices of thousands of young people across our state. Their message is clear; they want a future where they are:

Educated and thriving
Connected to community
Supported and safe
Healthy and well
Heard and influential

We know what young people need—and it is our job to listen. At Human Nature we are already turning these priorities into reality for many young people in our region but to sustain this impact and reach those still waiting for support, we need a community of care behind our young people.

By becoming a monthly giver, you provide the reliable foundation we need to offer consistent support long-term.

We were thrilled to welcome the team from Ballina RSL to our office recently to officially hand over the proceeds from last year’s IMD Golf Day. We are still buzzing from the news with over $20,000 was raised to support the work we do!

While the sun has set on the tournament itself, the impact of this donation is just beginning. We love seeing the community come together like this for the young people we walk alongside every day.

A huge thanks to local legends Cyberry, Ballina Golf & Sports, Hartleys Fresh Market, and the wonderful Claire Tyson from Ballina RSL for your incredible support and for making the day such a success.

To everyone who chipped in, sponsored a hole, or swung a club on the day - thank you!

Human Nature has been selected as the challenge partner for the AI x Design Thinking Challenge 2026!

On 22 April at TAFE NSW Byron Bay, we’re stepping into some new territory and we’d love for our local community to join us. This is a first for us, and we’re looking for your unique perspectives and creative inputs.

We’ll be sharing a live brief and inviting you to spend 90 minutes brainstorming, experimenting, and building a final pitch. The night wraps with a Shark Tank–style finale where teams present their ideas.

How it works:
- Register to secure your spot
- Create a team or join one on the night
- Turn up and have fun!

You don’t need to be an tech expert - just bring your curiosity along for a fun night together.

Easter came a little early for the team and young people at Human Nature!

We are so grateful to our friends at for gifting us these incredible easter treats. If you’re seeing us for the first time from the Loco Love community—welcome!

Who we are: We are a non-profit based in the Northern Rivers, dedicated to empowering young people through nature-based mental health support. We take therapy out of the office and into the outdoors, working with young people to rebuild trust and safety over time—and for as long as it takes.

As a small organisation, we don’t often get the chance to be visible to larger audiences, so we are incredibly moved by this opportunity to share our mission. Thank you, Loco Love for standing with us and reminding our young people of the importance of community.

Want to learn more? If you’d like to see how we’re changing the landscape of youth mental health or find out how you can support our work, head to our website: www.humannature.org.au and give us a follow.

Happy Easter from all of us here at Human Nature

Healing doesn't have to happen between four walls. In fact, for many of the young people we work with, those walls can feel like another barrier.

At Human Nature, we move sessions outdoors and into spaces where young people can feel relaxed, open up, and connect. Being outside creates the conditions to regulate, build trust, and engage on their own terms.

This is what support looks like outside of the box - literally. Putting one foot in front of the other and moving slowly towards a sense of safety and empowerment.

It’s not that they’re "too hard to reach." It’s that the system isn’t built for the mountain they’re climbing.

At Human Nature, we don’t wait for young people to walk into a clinic. We meet them where they feel safe - out in nature, in the community, and on their own terms.

But high-intensity, long-term support takes more than just a one-off effort. It takes a community that shows up, month after month, to ensure no young person is left behind.

Help us change the way we reach young people in our community. Join our circle of supporters by becoming a monthly giver via the link in our bio.

How do we support young people navigating complex challenges? It starts with safety, confidence, and community.

Human Nature founder Andy Hamilton has been invited by the Rotary Club of Byron Bay to share a brief guest presentation on our innovative Model of Care.

From local roots to national recognition, hear how we’re helping young people rebuild a sense of belonging right here in our backyard.

Great minds think differently and support should too.

Depending on how our brains are wired, we think, move, process information, and communicate in different ways.

When we talk about neurodiversity, we take a balanced view of an individual's strengths. Neurodiversity isn't a deficit. It's a different way of being in the world - and it's more common than most people realise. Around 15–20% of the population has a neurological difference.

But here's what often gets missed: many of the challenges neurodivergent people face aren't really about them at all. They're about the environments and systems built around everyone else. That's true in schools. In workplaces. And in support services too.

This Neurodiversity Celebration Week, we celebrate every young person who thinks differently. At Human Nature, sessions are outside, active, and completely co-designed around what each person needs - because support should fit the person, not the other way around.
