SUPPORT IS AVAILABLE FOR YOU TOO

Social Futures’ Pillars of Support provides free counselling for people supporting someone experiencing challenges with alcohol or other drugs, or who are impacted by someone else’s substance use.

Available in Maitland, Cessnock, Kurri Kurri, Singleton, Muswellbrook and surrounding areas.

No referral is needed.

When someone is bereaved by su***de, the people around them often want to help, but knowing what to say, what to do and how to offer support can be difficult.

That’s why StandBy Gold Coast is bringing its free “What do I say? What do I do?” workshop to Tweed Heads.

Designed for community members and local service providers, the workshop will build understanding of su***de bereavement and give people practical skills to support others. It will explore grief and loss, what can make su***de bereavement different from other sudden deaths, helpful support approaches, and the importance of looking after yourself while supporting others.

Building this knowledge across our communities matters. When people feel better equipped to respond with care, understanding and confidence, those experiencing bereavement are less likely to feel they have to navigate it alone.

We’re proud to share that Social Futures has been named a finalist in two categories at the 2026 Business Orange Awards: Employer of Choice and Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion.

This recognition means a lot to us as we continue to grow our connections across Orange, the Central West and wider Western NSW.

For us, a strong workplace starts with people feeling supported, included and able to contribute. It also means building teams that reflect the communities we work alongside, listening to lived experience and creating a culture where people can keep learning, growing and doing their best work.

We’re grateful to be recognised alongside so many organisations contributing to the Orange community, and especially proud of our local staff who are building strong relationships and supporting communities across the region every day.

Did you know that over half of all the calls we receive at Social Futures are from people seeking housing and homelessness support?

We were able to help over 1,100 people in the last financial year gain or maintain their housing. However we know that demand far exceeds supply for affordable housing in our region. Which is why we are throwing our support behind the Homelessness Nsw campaign A Place to Call Home and the Support to Keep it and we encourage the rest of our community to do the same.

Government strategy is in place; what’s important now is adequate investment in the housing and service capacity needed to deliver meaningful results for people and communities.
