It was great to have Belinda from the Seaton Foundation pay us a surprise visit on Friday with the wonderful news that our Food Security Grant application has been successful.

This funding will help us continue providing nutritious meals and practical support to people in our community who are experiencing hardship. With demand for our service continuing to grow, this support will make a real difference.

A sincere thank you to the Seaton Foundation for supporting local organisations and helping us continue our work assisting those who need it most. We are incredibly grateful for your support.

Ballina Hot Meal Centre – We’re Back!

Our volunteers are back on deck today, cooking and serving sit-down meals for our community. We extend our sincere thanks to Cherry Street Sports Ballina, Mumbai Masala Indian Restaurant, and our dedicated volunteers for ensuring there were frozen meals available over the break.

We also thank Woolworths, Coles, and ALDI for their generous provision of groceries.

Thank you to everyone who helps keep the Ballina Hot Meal Centre operating with care, dignity, and community spirit.

Volunteer Cook Wanted – Ballina Hot Meal Centre

The Ballina Hot Meal Centre is seeking an enthusiastic Volunteer Cook to prepare nourishing, home-style meals for people in need across Ballina and surrounding areas.

When: Tuesday and Friday mornings
A paid position will be considered for the right candidate.

What we do:
We provide meals and takeaway food for people who are homeless, disadvantaged, lonely, or experiencing crisis. Beyond meals, we offer a safe, welcoming place that promotes dignity, connection, and companionship.

What we’re looking for:
• Experience in meal preparation
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene
• Basic stock control and use of donated food items
• Reliable, organised, and community-minded
• A genuine commitment to teamwork in a volunteer environment

We’re open tomorrow, Tuesday 30 December, from 11am–1pm for takeaway meals and some groceries for those in need.

Our thanks to Cherry Street Sports Ballina, Mumbai Masala Indian Restaurant, and our incredible BHMC volunteers for cooking and preparing meals for the community over the Christmas and New Year period.
