Happy World Thinking Day!

This year is extra special as we celebrate the 100th World Thinking Day - a day when Girl Guides around the world come together to reflect, connect, and take action. Since 1926, this day has encouraged us to reflect on our global sisterhood and the positive change we can achieve when we work together.

We’re also incredibly excited to celebrate Claire from Surf Coast Guides, whose charming World Thinking Day badge design truly made us smile! Her literal interpretation is wonderfully fun and will soon be available in the Guide Shop as a SWAP badge!

We can’t wait to see what our Units, Districts, and Regions get up to today! 💙🌍✨

We would like to reflect on achievements that have been completed throughout the year.

We celebrated our amazing Leaders & helpers; Marg, Laura, Sue and Liz who have concluded their journey with Girl Guides Ballarat. With a combined amount of 100 years of service, teaching girls life skills, late night Guide adventures and early morning wake ups on camp. We certainly wouldn’t have the amazing memories we had, without the input of these Leaders and the impact they have had on the girls.
A very big BRAVO to our amazing leaders.

We also celebrated our adult Leaders with recognition of their service within Girl Guides Victoria.
A big BRAVO to;
Louisa - 45 years, Melissa - 20 years, Sue - 15 years, Ash - 5 years, Kylie - 3 years.

We wish all our Guiding families a very safe & happy new year. Girl Guides will be back in Ballarat in 2026! 🥳

Some of our have been quite creative lately.

🚌 The 11th Ballarat Guides helped brighten up a local bus shelter with woven squares as part of the City of Ballarat’s Youth Ambassadors Program, then made their own jewellery holders by decorating cork boards.

🌻 At the end of June, our youngest Girl Guides enjoyed a special Garden Gnome Day at Lingbogol, filled with fun activities themed around gnomes, gardening, and the environment.

The winter weather wasn’t right for planting during the event, but thanks to the City of Ballarat, each Guide received a packet of sunflower seeds to plant at home. The seed packets recommend planting in spring or early summer — so now’s the time to start looking for a sunny spot and to enrich your soil with compost.

Once the weather warms up a little, you’ll be ready to plant the seeds.

📷 We’d love to see your photos as you plant your seeds and watch your beautiful sunflowers grow.
