Moira Deeming has been referred to IBAC over her demand in writing that the Liberals just slide her onto the ballot for Western Metro Region.

The people crunching the stats say she would lose based on the pre-selection going to a vote because she hasn't got the numbers.

The very weird overlay on this is Peta Credlin weighing in so hard - and wielding contents of a letter from the Soldiers Hill Liberals in Ballarat. Seems they don't want the party to bail John Pesutto out even though the electorate isn't super keen on Moira's identity politics.

By the way, does anyone know who the Soldier's Hill Liberals are? Happy for people to inbox me names/deets.

Have you donated to John Pesutto's fundraiser?

Moira Deeming has issued him with a bankruptcy notice, so the can shaking has begun in earnest. If he can't get the cash in time, he'll be forced to declare bankruptcy and will be ineligible for the Parliament.

Not saying anyone should donate. But absolutely am saying that it seems that people have donated just to leave their names and publicly state their support.

My personal favourite was the $100 from Tony Abbott and Peta Credlin. What a team they are... always taking a stand for what's best for the Liberals.

Who else did you spot on the list?

The Ballarat Community Saturation Model is an initiative to prevent gendered violence in Ballarat. It’s about every part of the community coming together to take action to create a Ballarat where everyone can be safe, equal and respected.

Right now, Respect Victoria is working together with the Ballarat community to understand what’s needed to prevent gendered violence, what needs to change, and where we can build on what’s working.

We want to know what it would look like for everyone in Ballarat to be safe - in their relationships, at work, at school, online and in the community - and what needs to change to make that happen.

What is gendered violence?
Gendered violence is any form of physical or non-physical violence or abuse against a person or group of people because of biased or harmful beliefs about gender.

People of all genders can experience this violence, but women and gender diverse people are disproportionately affected:
➡️More than 1 in 3 women have experienced physical or sexual violence by a man since the age of 15 (Personal Safety Survey 2021-22).

➡️3 in 5 LGBTQ people have experienced intimate partner violence (Private Lives 3, 2020-21).

➡️1 in 14 men have experienced intimate partner violence (Personal Safety Survey 2021-22).

Please note that due to ethics considerations, this consultation is...

Tomorrow is LGBTIQA+ Domestic Violence Awareness Day.

It's a really important issue and is a big conversation that has really started to take shape as part of the Ballarat Saturation Model.

You are therefore invited to attend an awareness session led by the legends at Women's Health Grampians - talking about what the evidence shows about LGBTIQA+ people and how we can recognise it when it's happening to our friends or if we're experiencing it.

One of the most important things in raising awareness is not downplaying the domestic violence that happens in LGBTIQA+ community - and getting the whole community to a place where we feel confident to recognise it, can see it and believe people when they tell you what's happening.

We can all be part of the solution.

We'll have some snacks and cuppas available at:
Oscars Hotel
18 Doveton Street South, Ballarat Central
Wednesday 28 May 2025
Time: 5:30 - 7:00pm

Hope to see you there.

Call us cynical, but do you think the massive paycut has anything to do with this ridiculous backflip.

It’s like they didn’t learn a thing from their disastrous walking back of policies and cancelling announcements all through the campaign.

And that policy agenda put forward by the Nationals.

Nuclear? Where? Be specific. Is Senator McKenzie pushing for one in her region?

Is the affordable plan to build nuclear reactors near our transmission infrastructure in the room with us?

Catherine King has been returned in the Seat of Ballarat.

Congratulations on your win, Minister. A win for decency and fairness.

Thank you Ballarat! It's an incredible privilege to be returned as your MP, and I'm looking forward to serving you in a majority Labor Government!

Legend Antony Green has just laid out the result.

Peter Dutton will not be the next Prime Minister of Australia... indeed he might not end up even holding his seat of Dickon... and even better news, this might be a big win for the ALP.

Thank you for your public service as an ABC commentator and the way you have supported election nights for all types of Territory, State and Commonwealth elections. We have appreciated your engaging analysis and translating the complex swings and voter patterns.

Go well.

Has everybody seen the report from ACM/The Courier about voter intentions in Ballarat?

Could the Greens take out the Liberals this year? That truly would be something right?

Maybe that'll be the thing that finally prompts them towards some common decency, respect and policies that benefit people.

The Ballarat Community Alliance thinks the Ballarat & District Greens deserve a shout out for their campaign - and thank you to the local candidate John Barnes who also somehow managed to not preference hateful people. It's almost like it's possible to be a good person who doesn't sell their soul to be in politics. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you're keen on alllll the How To Vote cards from people who care about things like the environment, women's rights, LGBTIQA+ equality and disability you should go and give their page a like.

Do we think the Greens will go higher than the early intention result?

To be honest, people were excited. Could this be the change that people have waited for? Here's how LGBTIQA+ people have responded today to her preference deal as discussed in a Courier article today:

➡️I get really sick of politicians (especially Liberal ones it seems) using things like chillout and frolic as photo opportunities to rainbow wash their campaigns. And when it comes to the crunch they have absolutely 0 policies to support us. Makes me sick.
➡️All small l liberals are bloody full of it. ☹
➡️We edge closer and closer to the (supposed to be fictitious) world of the Handmaids Tale with pieces of s*** like these clowns.

From the Courier:
Liberal Party candidate Paula Doran is telling Ballarat voters to use their second preference on a far-right candidate who wants to ban abortion, abolish protections for LGBTQIA+ students and convert Muslim people to Christianity.

In April, Ms Doran revealed her how-to-vote card on social media, in which she placed the Family First Party's Ian Harkness above several more established candidates.

In an interview with The Courier, Mr Harkness expressed a series of unsubstantiated and controversial beliefs, including that the Victorian government was coercing vulnerable children to change their gender and that medical practitioners were killing babies after birth.

When this masthead asked Ms Doran if she had ever spoken to Mr Harkness or found out his beliefs before recommending him to voters, she refused to answer all questions.

Instead, a Liberal Party spokesperson said its recommendations were related to "cost of living relief".

This is despite the fact that, during an almost hour long interview with The Courier, Mr Harkness didn't propose any policy that would address the cost of living crisis.

How does someone say they're for LGBTIQA+ community preference someone who is the absolute opposite of what you supposedly stand for?

Fair to say LGBTIQA+ community are pretty done with the pinkwashing.

The City of Ballarat stands on the Traditional Lands of the Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung Peoples. Their sovereignty was never ceded. We had our first meeting at the beginning of August.
