Upendo Foundation Australia

Upendo Foundation Australia We give these vulnerable kids a safe home & education. Upendo Foundation (and Child Light) is registered in Tanzania with a 100% Tanzanian board of directors.

Upendo Foundation Australia is a not-for-profit charity whose sole purpose is to provide the financial means to operate our children’s home for orphaned and street kids in Tanzania. The foundation, based at the bottom of Mount Kilimanjaro in the Kilimanjaro region was founded in 2009 by Luke Bennett from Melbourne, Australia. Upendo began its work assisting the local street kids by providing train

ing in traditional painting methods to equip them to generate income and support themselves and their families. Since these humble beginnings, Upendo Foundation has focused on providing a safe, loving home for children who have no viable family support. The outcomes for children, especially girls, who have no education or family support are very poor in this community and culture. Each child is taken in with the endorsement of the local government authorities and our facilities and procedures are audited regularly. We aim to stay small to provide children with a family environment and to replicate as much as possible a normal childhood. With the help of Australian sponsor families, we provide an above average education for our kids to develop according to their potential through quality schools. We aim for our kids to become responsible citizens in their community. We proudly declare that 99% of your donations will go towards helping the children as all of our Australian office bearers work for nothing.

**All donations are tax deductible in Australia. Upendo is DGR registered by the ATO (Deductible Gift Recipient status granted by the Australian Taxation Office) **
