Baldivis Playgroupโ€™s fees are $35.00 per term per family.

Our Playgroup is perfect for all children from 0-5 years, focused on child led play with lots of opportunities for each child to explore their interests. We believe that Playgroup should be a place where everyone is welcome, accepted and supported. We are a safe space, we encourage you to attend Playgroup even on the days when leaving the house is difficult. Come in your pjs, bring your breakfast,

we're here to support you and your family. Session Times

What a magical Book Week we had! ๐Ÿ’• This week we dived under the sea and based our activities around the beautiful story The Rainbow Fish ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒˆ

Our little bookworms enjoyed:
๐ŸŽจ Creating their very own Rainbow Fish arts & crafts
๐Ÿ“š Book Week colouring-in
๐ŸŸ Fish and underwater-themed sensory play
๐Ÿ’ฆ Messy play inspired by the underwater world

And of course, we had an AMAZING group of little book characters joining us! ๐Ÿ“–โœจ

We had dinosaurs ๐Ÿฆ–, construction workers ๐Ÿ‘ท, giraffes ๐Ÿฆ’, puppies ๐Ÿถ, fairies ๐Ÿงšโ€โ™€๏ธ, unicorns ๐Ÿฆ„, princesses ๐Ÿ‘‘, Spider-Man ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ, and even our very own Rainbow Fish! ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒˆ

It was so lovely seeing the children get creative, explore through play and share their favourite characters and stories with their friends. ๐Ÿ’•

Just like The Rainbow Fish, we were reminded that the best kind of sparkle is the kind we share with others. โœจ๐Ÿ’™

For Week 6 (next week) the 24thโ€“28th August, weโ€™re celebrating Book Week 2026 with a week full of imagination, stories, creativity and plenty of dress-ups! ๐Ÿงšโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

๐ŸŒŸ Dress as your favourite book character! ๐ŸŒŸ
Whether theyโ€™re a superhero, fairy, pirate, animal, princess, dinosaur or someone from a much-loved story โ€” we canโ€™t wait to see who you choose! ๐Ÿ“š

๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒผ DJILBA โ€” FIRST SPRING ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒฟ

As we move into August and September, we enter Djilba, one of the six seasons of the Noongar seasonal calendar.

Djilba is known as the โ€œseason of conceptionโ€ and is a time of transition, growth and new life. ๐ŸŒฑ

The weather can be a mixture of cold, clear days, warmer sunshine, rain and windy weather โ€” while all around us, nature begins to wake up and become more active.

๐ŸŒผ Flowers begin appearing, including bright yellows, creams and blues๐ŸŒฑ New plant growth begins๐Ÿฃ We start to see the first signs of new life๐Ÿฆ Birds are busy nesting and protecting their young๐ŸŒฟ Grass Tree flower stalks begin to emerge in preparation for Kambarang.

Itโ€™s a wonderful reminder to slow down, look around and notice what is growing and changing in the world around us. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒผ

๐Ÿฆทโœจ Smiling Starts visits Baldivis Playgroup! โœจ๐Ÿฆท

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming the wonderful team from Smiling Starts to Baldivis Playgroup for an oral health education session.

Smiling Starts is a free WA Government program that helps children under five develop healthy oral hygiene habits from an early age. The program provides families with oral health education, practical toothbrushing tips, preventive dental care and free dental screenings, all aimed at giving little ones the best start to a lifetime of healthy smiles. ๐Ÿชฅ๐Ÿ˜

๐Ÿฆท Did you know? Before Smiling Starts, WA children generally didn't have access to a dedicated statewide public dental program until they started school. Smiling Starts is helping bridge that gap by providing free oral health education, screenings and preventive care for children under five, giving little smiles the best possible start.

As parents and caregivers, we all want to give our children the best possible start in life. Looking after their oral health from a young age helps prevent pain and tooth decay, supports healthy eating and speech development, and encourages lifelong healthy habits. Teaching children how to care for their teeth early can make a big difference to their overall health and wellbeing.

In today's session, our little learners enjoyed exploring Water Play Art! ๐Ÿ’ง๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–Œโœจ๏ธ

Using spray bottles, water and washable markers on aluminium foil, the children experimented with colours, patterns and movement while discovering how water can transform their artwork.

Open-ended process art experiences encourage creativity, curiosity, sensory exploration and fine motor skills, with every child given the opportunity to create something uniquely their own.

This activity is one of the process art, sensory play and outdoor play engagements our President, Carolyn, is currently trialling as part of a new engagement menu she is developing for Baldivis Playgroup.

We're looking forward to rolling out more of these engaging, child-led learning experiences in the next few weeks as the resources and materials become available.

Following our Annual General Meeting, we're excited to introduce our new committee and take a moment to recognise the incredible people who have helped Baldivis Playgroup grow and thrive.

A heartfelt thank you to Jesse for stepping into the role of President over the past year. Your leadership and commitment helped ensure our playgroup could continue supporting local families.

A very special thank you to Brooke for the countless hours of work you've dedicated behind the scenes over the years. Your passion, dedication and tireless efforts have played an enormous role in building and strengthening Baldivis Playgroup into the wonderful community it is today.

We would also like to sincerely thank Maria, Shirley and Rachael for all of your hard work and commitment throughout the past year(s). Your time, support and willingness to volunteer have been greatly appreciated.
