A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along and supported our very first Melanesian Arts & Crafts Market yesterday. What an incredible day it was! It was wonderful to see our community come together to celebrate our culture, support local artisans, and enjoy each other’s company.

A special thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who gave their time and energy to make the day a success. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Subject: Release of Mulitaka Landslide Appeal Funds – $2,294.76 (K5,828.98)

In 2024, we launched a fundraising appeal to assist those affected by the devastating Mulitaka Landslide disaster, which claimed many lives and displaced thousands of people.

We were aware that significant support was being provided from within Papua New Guinea and abroad. As a result, we made the decision to hold the funds raised through our appeal until we could identify individuals who would directly benefit from our contribution.

I am delighted to share that last month we identified two recipients from the affected area through our Engan community here in Perth, Western Australia. The recipients are Othniel Suri and Graham Pakui.

Othniel is currently studying at Southern Highlands Teachers College, while Graham is attending Mt Hagen Technical College. Our contribution of $2,294.76 (K5,828.98) has been used to help pay their outstanding school fees.

Our objective was simple: a small contribution that makes a big impact. We hope this assistance will help these young men continue their education and work towards a brighter future.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all the families who assisted with the mumu and food preparations. A special thank you also goes to the PNG community in Western Australia, as well as our families and friends across Australia and the Pacific, who came out to support this fundraising effort.

Your generosity, compassion, and support have made a meaningful difference.
