🎄 Christmas in Babinda 2026 — Calling for a New Organiser 🎄

It's with a heavy heart that we announce Babinda Taskforce is not in a position to run Christmas in Babinda this year.

We are currently at capacity BUT we would love to see it continue under new management from another organisation and we're committed to supporting a smooth handover.

We have already reached out to two other groups about taking on the event, but unfortunately, neither party was able to commit. Rather than let this wonderful community tradition disappear, we're putting the call out more broadly: is there a group or organisation ready to take it on?

If you feel that your not-for-profit group is genuinely able to take this on, please get in touch with us. Call Babinda Taskforce on 4067 2900, to discuss.

Visit the Services Australia mobile service centre when it visits Babinda next week!

This is your opportunity to speak with Services Australia staff to find out about Australian Government payments and services for rural families, older Australians, students, job seekers, people with disability, carers, farmers and self-employed people.

There is still time to complete the Census! The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is hosting a free Census support session in Babinda!

Session Details:
📅 Friday, 4 September 2026
🕙 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
📍 SPAR Babinda, 52 Munro Street, Babinda

No appointment is required. Simply drop in and speak with the team during the session.

Babinda Pool will reopen on Monday, 7 September, following its annual winter closure.

During the scheduled closure, annual maintenance and cleaning was undertaken of the facility, including:
- Garden and grounds maintenance
- Regular water treatment, balancing, backwashing and dosing
- Assessment and servicing of mechanical equipment
- Electrical works
- Pressure cleaning, and
- Painting

The Babinda facility features a 50-metre swimming pool, a covered grandstand with seating for up to 400 people, and a barbecue area.

Opening hours are:
Monday to Friday: 6am to 11am and 1pm to 6pm
Weekends and public holidays: Closed

Babinda gives a thumbs up to… NOLAN!

The hours Nolan put in, AS A VOLUNTEER, to build the new museum display was absolutely incredible! Thank you so much Nolan for your hard work and dedication.

The new exhibit, Life & Land - Farming around the Russell River Valley, is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 10am-3pm - so come check it out!

The car park space in front of 57 Munro Street Babinda* is a Bus Zone at the following times:

✨ Monday to Friday from 7am - 9am and 3pm-5pm ✨
