Born on Darkinjung Country, JD proudly shares his Aboriginal and Islander heritage through his work and community involvement. A descendant of both Kamilaroi and Norfolk Island ancestry, JD uses his art as a way to connect with people, share stories and inspire confidence, creativity and self-esteem in others.
As a trained Mentor, Mediator, Aboriginal Education Assistant and community leader, JD has dedicated much of his life to supporting young people, schools, disability services and community organisations. Through his role with the Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council, he continues to advocate for community wellbeing and the protection of culture and heritage.
For JD, leatherwork is more than a craft — it's a way of bringing people together through storytelling, learning and connection.
