Our dedicated staff are deeply saddened by this news, as GCEC has always been about creating a supportive and joyful space for our participants. 🎉 Hi everyone! 🎉

School holidays are just around the corner, and we've got exciting news! 🌟 Starting Wednesday 18th September, our sessions will be moving to Milligan. in Carey Park!
(Monday 16/09 and Tuesday 17/09 will still be at LLC)

But that's not all! We've planned a fun excursion for each of our sessions. Below are the dates:

📅 Tuesday 8th October

🌟 Excursion Location: The Lord Forrest Hotel
🕙 Time: 10 AM - 1 PM (during normal session hours)

🍽️ Lunch is on us for all participants, and you get to choose from a variety of options on the lunch menu! For support workers/companions, meals are $26 (menu attached in the second image).

🎨 To add even more fun, wear your favourite football team's colours! 🏉⚽

We'll be handing out flyers during each session and are happy to answer any questions. Can’t wait to see you there! 🙌💚

🌟Another amazing week at GCEC!🌟

We continued our fun painted potted plant activity, creating beautiful designs and planting flowers—just perfect for spring! 🌸🌿 Everyone’s creativity was blooming, and the results were stunning!

We also kicked off a new activity: DIY placemats!🌿✨ Using natural elements and colourful craft paper, the designs were endless! We can’t wait to see all the incredible creations to come.

On Wednesday, we wear pink! 💖 Many of our wonderful participants, staff, and support workers joined in the fun by dressing in pink. Next week, we’re wearing blue! 💙 If you want to join the fun, be sure to wear blue on Wednesday.

Our chefs have been outdoing themselves in the kitchen, whipping up delicious meals requested by our participants and turning them into mouth-watering dishes! 🍲🍴

Don’t forget, our GCEC print shirt activity is still going strong! 🎨👕 Bring in your own shirt and we’ll help you print the GCEC logo on it.

The team at Grow Cook Eat Create have just completed their first aid refresher course to ensure we’re always ready to help in case of emergencies! 🙌 Your safety is our top priority, so we thought we’d share a few life-saving tips that might help you in an emergency situation! 🌟

1️⃣ Stay Calm! It’s easier said than done, but taking a deep breath and staying focused helps you think clearly and respond effectively.

2️⃣ Call 000 📞🚨 Don’t hesitate to dial for help. The sooner professional help arrives, the better!

3️⃣ Check for Danger ⚠️ Before helping someone, make sure the area is safe for both you and them! This is where remembering the DRS ABCD is really helpful in situations if you don’t know where to start.

🌸 Spring has sprung here at GCEC! 🌸

This week’s activity was all about garden crafts, and it was a blast! 🎨🌱 We created stunning painted pots and planted edible flowers. Our talented participants even made adorable little ornaments to decorate their pots, and we are absolutely in LOVE with how they turned out! 😍 We also added vibrant flowers to our large pots, bringing extra life and colour to our outside area—perfect for those sunny spring lunches! 🌼🍽️

A lot of love went into these pots, with many being created as special gifts. If you were lucky enough to receive one of these beautiful potted plants from our sessions, we hope you cherish it! 💖🌷

Of course, no week at GCEC is complete without some fun games of UNO and bingo! We laughed, joked, and handed out awesome prizes to our bingo champs! 🎉🎁

We also continued our shirt printing activity for those bringing in shirts or bags. The designs are incredible—check out some of our participants rocking their custom-made shirts at the sessions! 👕🎨

A huge shout-out to our amazing chefs who consistently create mouthwatering, healthy meals. You are all superstars! 🌟🍴 And to our talented artists, your masterpieces continue to amaze us every week! 🎨✨

🎉 Pyjama Week at GCEC! 🌟
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for a fun-filled week in your comfiest PJs—talk about relaxing and having fun in style! ✨

Our breakfast meals were a smash hit, this week we cooked up yummy bacon & egg McMuffins and delicious crepes with everyone’s favourite toppings to choose from! 🥓🥚 🥞 🍋🍓

This week, we also got creative making Father's Day/Important Person Day cards, and they turned out AMAZING! 🎨💌 Whoever receives these special cards is going to be blown away!

And how about that GCEC shirt activity? 🤩 The smiles were huge as everyone who brought in their own shirt got to print the GCEC logo on it! If you missed out, don't worry—we’ll keep this awesome activity available for you! 👕

We hope you had a fantastic session this week; it was truly so much fun! Thank you to everyone who participated and rocked their pyjamas! 😄👏

🌟 What an AMAZING week at GCEC!🌟

This week, our talented participants got creative with shrink paper to make their own keychains! 🎨 They drew, coloured, and watched in awe (and a little bit of suspense) as their designs shrank before their eyes with a little heat! 🔥 It was such a fun and thrilling process, and the end results were fabulous! 💚

Our community board is now a masterpiece, filled with the signatures of our wonderful participants, companions/support workers, and staff! 💖 It's so heartwarming to see everyone’s names together, celebrating our GCEC family!

Shoutout to our incredible chefs who have been absolutely nailing it in the kitchen! 🍴 The new menu selection is a hit, making sure everyone has a chance to enjoy their favourite meals! 🍲

We've also rolled out our half-yearly planner 📅, so you know exactly what fun activities we have lined up each week! If you haven’t received yours yet, just let us know, and we’ll get one to you ASAP. Keep your eyes peeled on our socials – we’ll be sharing it there soon so you can access it anywhere, anytime!

💚 What a week at GCEC! 💚

We’ve been up to so much this week and it’s been an absolute blast! See for yourself! 😄

First up, BINGO! 🎉 Our winners got to pick from a range of super fun prizes, and the excitement was through the roof! We all had a good laugh when our wonderful staff member, Stan, accidentally shouted UNO instead of Bingo! 😂 Fun times, indeed!

This week’s activity was Scrapbooking! ✂️📒 With gorgeous papers and decorations, everyone’s creations were simply stunning! The creativity in the room was off the charts, and we loved seeing each and every masterpiece come to life. 🎨✨

A special shoutout to Sean for painting our lovely board! 🎨 We’ve turned it into a canvas for everyone in our GCEC family to sign their names on. As the week went on, it was heartwarming to see how full the board became with the names of our amazing participants and companions. ❤️ If you haven’t signed it yet, don’t worry! We’ll be bringing it out every session to make sure no one misses out! 🖊️

And, of course, a BIG thank you to our incredible chefs 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 who whip up delicious meals day in and day out! Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed, and we appreciate you all so much! 🍽️🙏

🌟 A wonderful week at GCEC! 🌟

Lots of laughter, fun, and unforgettable moments filled our space this week.
We had the joy of celebrating many birthdays, and we hope each and every one of you had an amazing day! 🎉
We absolutely love coming together to sing "Happy Birthday." Sure, it might be a bit embarrassing, but those big smiles and sometimes even tears of joy make it all worthwhile! 🥳💖

This week, our collaborative collage continued to grow, with everyone contributing their unique and creative pieces. We’re so excited to see these masterpieces come together and can’t wait to display them at galleries in the future! 🎨✨

Our gel stamp workshop was a hit once again, with beautiful birthday cards being made—perfect timing for all those special celebrations! They turned out so special and will surely be cherished. 💌🎂

And let’s not forget the incredible meals our chefs whipped up! 🍽️ They tried out some new dishes that were a huge success—thank you to everyone who stepped into the kitchen to help cook up these delicious creations! 👩‍🍳🍲

We’re excited to introduce a new idea! 🎉 From now on, each session will have the chance to write down a meal suggestion for the following week. We’ll then draw from the box to choose which dish gets made. This way, everyone’s ideas get a chance to be recreated! 🍽️ If your suggestion is picked, we’d love to invite you into the kitchen to help us bring your dish to life. 👩‍🍳 Let’s get cooking together!

We can’t wait to see what next week has in store for us. We’re sure it’s going to be another fun-filled week, just like always! 🎉 See you soon!

🎨🌟 What an amazing week at GCEC! We had so many laughs together and so much fun! 🌟🎨

Our ongoing art project is shaping up beautifully, with everyone creating unique pieces on wood cutouts for our exhibition canvas. Each piece is absolutely stunning!

We kicked off our gel stamp printing activity, making beautiful cards for birthdays and appreciation notes. We even recycled participant and companion drawings to create gorgeous backgrounds for the cards! The creativity in our sessions is simply amazing! 🎨✉️

Our chefs have been cooking up a storm each session, and every meal has been delicious! Huge thanks to everyone who helps out in the kitchen - your efforts are always appreciated and you should be so proud of the meals you create! 🍲🍰

We’ve had countless laughs this week playing our favourite games like UNO and ping pong! 🃏🏓

🎨 Another amazing week at GCEC! 🎨

We continued our fun art project, getting creative and painting/drawing on wood pieces to create our own unique artwork for an upcoming art exhibition. A huge thank you to Sean for painting the 3 boards that our pieces will be displayed on! 🖌️✨

📸 Our photography competition was a hit, with participants capturing stunning images and winning exciting prizes! Check out some of those amazing photos in today’s post! 🌟📷

As always, we played some fun games with our friends, filled with good times and lots of laughs! 🎉🤣 it’s amazing to see everyone come together and what an amazing community we have built here at GCEC!

A big shoutout to our chefs for another week of amazing meals! They put their culinary skills to the test, producing fantastic lunches and desserts. 🍽️👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

💚Another fantastic week at GCEC! 💚

We started the week at the softball club but are now back at LLC!

📸 We had an exciting photoshoot competition! Everyone took photos of whatever they wanted, from friends to food! 🍔👫 We then voted on the winner, and the winners got prizes! 🏆 It was so much fun, and seeing things from a different perspective was really cool! Keep an eye out for those photos, we will be making a post of them all next week!

🎨 We also started a new activity: decorating wooden cutouts to display at art exhibitions! The creativity was amazing, and each piece represents our fantastic participants, companions and staff. We can’t wait to share the end result! It’s going to be amazing to see them all come together. 🖼️✨

🍽️ A huge thank you to our wonderful chefs! The meals this week have been fabulous and delicious! Whether you cut up a vegetable, made a sauce, or cooked the whole meal, we want to say thank you! It’s great to see those in the kitchen, some getting out of their comfort zone and learning new skills! Every session produces delicious meals, putting your skills to the test to create something new every week. 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳
We also now have a daily menu you might have seen already! The board will display the meal and dessert for the session. 🍽️

🎲 Each session, we love playing games with our friends, from bingo and Uno to our new favorite, tabletop tennis! It’s great to see some friendly competition and the many laughs that follow! 🏓😂

🎄🎅 Friday: Day 5, our last fantastic Christmas in July party! 🎅🎄

Yet another amazing session celebrating Christmas in July! Once again we all got into the Christmas spirit, dressing up and bringing the joy and cheer! ✨

We had so many fun playing our Christmas Bingo with fun prizes, Spin the Wheel to wear the funky, funny Christmas item, Prizes Under the Seat and the best Secret Santa presents! 🎁 🎅

Our Christmas-inspired meal again this session was roast potato, pumpkin, and carrot. Peas and corn, delicious chicken and cheesy cauliflower!
And we can't forget the delicious gravy on top! It was once again delicious! 😋

Our pavlova bar for dessert was a hit again! 🍰 Choose your own fruit toppings, sprinkles, cream, and custard! 🍓✨

The staff at GCEC want to give a BIG thank you to all who came to the sessions, they were so much fun, and we appreciate you all participating in the activities! We hope Santa got you some amazing gifts that you love! 🎁❤️

Our Story

GCEC, Grow Cook Eat Create Inc., is an inclusive, not for profit, community kitchen style program based at the Leschenault Leisure Centre, LLC, in Australind. GCEC is a unique program for people of all abilities. More than a communal cooking activity; through inclusive, participatory and person-centred programming, participants have the opportunity to develop life skills including cooking, growing an edible and sensory garden, and fostering lasting friendships and social connections. We also enjoy developing creativity through arts and crafts and physical fitness by joining in games and sports. GCEC is not specifically for people with disabilities, however, it is this sector that makes up the majority of our participants.
