It's not too late to join the Auburn Botanic Gardens parkrun on Saturday 13 June and Saturday 27 June, and also on World Refugee Day 20 June.
For more information, see a post below from Sanctuary Runners Australia

It’s a great way to start the weekend while supporting both physical and mental wellbeing. Everyone is welcome!

After a great run with the Assyrian Run Club last Saturday, the Sanctuary Runners Australia team is back again at Auburn Botanic Gardens parkrun on Saturday morning from 7.45am. The simple act of getting up early on a Saturday and walking or running 5km together is proving to be a great way of building a sense of community and connection between Australians of many different backgrounds. It is such a positive way to start the weekend - and great for our physical and mental health.
parkrun Australia is an impressive movement, engaging local volunteers in coordinating local 5km runs/walks in 540 locations across Australia - and all for free. People can participate at whatever pace they like - aiming to run a personal best or enjoying a walk and a chat with whoever they find along the way.
We will be at Auburn parkrun for three of the four Saturdays of June - the 6th, 13th and 27th. On World Refugee Day (20 June), we will encourage our members to wear their blue Sanctuary Runners shirts at their local parkrun, to show support for refugees around the world.
And we enjoyed meeting the Assyrian Run Club crew last week so much that we are planning to get together again in July. Stay tuned for details.

Accessible Diversity Services Initiative (ADSI) English class group had an exciting and inspiring excursion to Ultimo at TAFE NSW.

Clients took part in an engaging TAFE NSW information session and explored a range of dynamic learning spaces with staff guidance, including floristry, cooking and baking, hairdressing and beauty, fashion and hospitality, as well as community radio and photography.

The experience was especially meaningful as clients discovered how learning English opens doors to real study pathways, hands-on training, and future career opportunities across many industries. It was a powerful reminder that developing English skills can support confidence, independence, and success in further education and employment.

Clients left feeling motivated and inspired, with many expressing excitements about the variety of courses available and how TAFE NSW provides practical, industry-focused training that leads to real-world careers.

Last night at our 30 Year celebration, we shared a special anniversary video reflecting on the people, stories, and moments that have shaped ADSI over the past three decades, and the values that continue to guide us into the future.

We are proud to now share this video with our broader community.

ADSI celebrated our 30-year anniversary last night alongside 150 partners, community leaders, supporters, and friends.

One phrase we heard again and again throughout the evening was: “It feels like coming home.”

That sentiment says so much about what ADSI has been, and continues to be, for so many in our community. Among those in attendance were former clients, many who arrived in Australia as refugees, navigating the challenges of settlement and building a new life for their families. Over time, they developed new skills, confidence, and connections, and many have gone on to become leaders in their own right. Some have volunteered with ADSI, others have worked alongside us, and many have remained deeply connected to an organisation that has been part of a significant chapter in their life journey.

That is the true legacy of community work, not just the services delivered, but the relationships built, the trust earned, and the pathways created for people to thrive and contribute.

To every person who has been part of ADSI’s 30-year journey in building this remarkable multicultural community organisation - staff past and present, volunteers, partners, funders, board members, and community members, we want to say thank you. ADSI’s story is your story too, and we are incredibly grateful for your contribution, trust, and support.

As we celebrate the last 30 years, we are also looking ahead to the next chapter with the same commitment to inclusion, dignity, opportunity, and community-led impact that has brought us this far.

Accessible Diversity Services Initiative (ADSI), with Thrive Refugee Enterprise, recently hosted a community workshop in Auburn focused on business and employment opportunities.

Community leaders and members from Afghan, Chinese, Nepalese, Sudanese, Ethiopian, and Eritrean communities came together to learn, share experiences, and connect with local services.

The session helped community members understand how local services work and how to access them. Thrive Refugee Enterprise also spoke about how they support refugees and migrants to build strong and sustainable livelihoods.

The workshop, titled “How to Start a Small Business,” was held at the Church Hall, St Philip’s Anglican Church (corner of Hall Street and Macquarie Road, Auburn). It gave practical information on starting a business and encouraged people to explore new ideas, share knowledge, and build stronger community connections.

It was a great opportunity for learning, networking, and bringing communities together.

🙏 We also acknowledge the support and funding from Multicultural NSW, which made this program possible.

A big thank you to State Manager NSW/ACT Gus Nehme for his valuable time and ongoing support.

Recently, ADSI, in partnership with Palestinian Australians Welfare Association (PAWA), hosted a Cyber Security Safety Awareness workshop for our Arabic-speaking community members, primarily from the Palestinian community. The session was delivered by Ventures, a cybersecurity firm, and focused on practical ways to stay safe online.

Participants learned about common online risks, including how scammers and hackers try to steal personal information, and the importance of protecting accounts using multi-factor authentication (MFA). A key highlight was the step-by-step guidance on how to set up MFA and strengthen online security.

As Bah, ADSI Team Leader - Settlement Services noted, “Clients appreciated how practical and easy to follow the session was, especially the clear, step-by-step guidance on keeping their accounts safe.”

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such an engaging and supportive session. We are proud to continue working alongside our partners to deliver culturally appropriate and useful workshops that help our community feel more confident and safe online.
