In September alone, RAA supporters helped make possible:

🐾 6 dogs rescued
🚗 4 journeys into care from remote communities
🛣 1,604 kilometres driven for rescue and support
💉 49 parvovirus vaccinations funded and waiting to be delivered
🐜 5 parasite prevention treatments funded and ready for the next visit
🐶 An estimated 90 potential puppy births prevented through rescue and desexing

And when we zoom out to the year so far, the numbers are even bigger.

Since January:

🐾 86 dogs rescued
🚗 31 journeys into care from remote communities
🛣 8,327 kilometres travelled
🐜 500+ months of parasite prevention delivered
💉 150 community dogs vaccinated against parvovirus
🏥 12 emergency veterinary procedures completed
📚 315 educational pet care resources distributed
🤝 4 on-the-ground community support visits completed
🐶 An estimated 1,580 potential puppies born through rescue and desexing outcomes

Behind every number is a dog, a family, a volunteer, a foster carer, a vet, a driver, a donor or a community member who helped make it happen.

And a special thank you to our 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀, whose ongoing support helps us fund care before it is urgently needed and keep prevention work moving between community visits.

If you'd like to help us keep making an impact, comment 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧 and we'll send you the link to choose the outcome you'd like to support. 🐾

EDIT: The quotes for flights and crates to get these pups into Cairns came to just $516 instead of the $967.50 we originally estimated 🎉

We also received some donated preventatives today, which means we can remove that line item from our budget too!

This means our revised fundraising total is $2006 instead of $2547.50 🐾

We’ve currently received $400 in pledges, so that means we need roughly $1600 more to say YES to bringing these three deserving pups down.

If you’re able to help, please consider making a small pledge via the link in our original post 🧡

Please share to help get us over the line! 🙏

We're heading back to Hope Vale, but we need to fill the impact buckets before we go. 🧡

Our next Hope Vale Community Prevention Visit is happening on 3-4 November, and we’re fundraising now so we can arrive with the parasite prevention, vaccinations and other essential care needed on the ground.

Our Impact Buckets make it simple.

You choose the outcome you care about most, choose how much you’d like to contribute, and decide whether your donation is one-off, weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

You don’t need to fund an entire treatment yourself. Smaller donations are pooled together until there’s enough in the bucket to deliver that outcome.

So between now and our November community visit, we’re working to get those buckets as full as possible to help fund the care we'll provide.

🐾 Comment IMPACT and we’ll send you the link to choose your Impact Bucket and help us get ready for Hope Vale.

🐾✈️ THREE PUPS, TWO FLIGHTS AND ONE BIG JOURNEY! 🧡

Meet Mia, Ginger and Kevin! 🥹🐾

These three gorgeous pups are currently in Aurukun, and we'd love to help them make their way to Brisbane, where our rehoming partners can help them find their forever families.

But getting three pups from a remote Cape York community to Brisbane is quite the undertaking - as you all know!

We've been working through the costs based on previous rescue journeys, and here's what we're estimating:

✈️ Aurukun → Cairns flights (3 pups) – $577.50
📦 Transporting 3 empty crates to Aurukun – $390
✈️ Cairns → Brisbane flights (3 pups) – $1,090
💉 Vaccinations for Mia and Ginger (Kevin is already fully vaccinated!) – $250
🐾 Worming and parasite preventatives for all three – $90
🥣 Food and supplies – $150

That brings our estimated costs to $2,547.50.

🧡 CAN YOU HELP US SAY YES TO MIA, GINGER AND KEVIN? 🧡

We're starting with PLEDGES to make sure we have enough support to cover their journey before committing to bringing them into RAA care.

If you'd like to help, please make a pledge using the link below (it helps us keep track!). No payment is needed just yet!

Once we've reached our target and confirmed arrangements, we'll let everyone know when it's time to turn those pledges into donations.

Three little pups, two flights each and a whole lot of kilometres between them and their next chapter. 🧡🐾

Thank you for helping us give Mia, Ginger and Kevin their chance!

This map makes us pretty proud. 🧡

🐾 Some dots represent animals supported through rescue and rehoming.
🐾 Some represent RAA teams and volunteers travelling in person to deliver support.
🐾 Some represent preventative care sent into community.
🐾 And some represent veterinary advice, rescue coordination and other assistance provided remotely.

So far this year, RAA has supported animals and communities across Bamaga, Lockhart River, Aurukun, Pormpuraaw, Hope Vale, Cooktown and Yarrabah - through rescue, prevention, education and community-based care.

And we’re not done yet.

Our greater purpose is to improve animal health and welfare in remote communities at every stage - saving lives today AND protecting them for tomorrow.

And this is what 2026 has looked like so far. 🐾

Our next Community Prevention Visit is happening on 3–4 November, and we're starting now to fill the Impact Buckets that fund the parasite prevention, vaccinations and other essential care we provide during community visits.

The idea is simple.

You choose the outcome you care about most, choose how much you’d like to contribute, and decide whether your donation is one-off, weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

You do not need to fund a whole treatment yourself. Smaller contributions are pooled together until there is enough in each bucket to deliver the outcome.

And with Animal Support Officers being introduced in Hope Vale next year, this funding matters even more.

Having locally based Animal Support Officers who can provide ongoing support in community is one part of the picture. We still need the resources, preventatives and treatments they can help deliver.

Previous visits have shown us just how strong the demand is for preventative care, and we want to arrive prepared to meet as much of that demand as possible.

So between now and November, we're working to get those buckets as full as possible before the team arrives.

🐾 Comment IMPACT and we’ll send you the link to choose your Impact Bucket and help us get ready for Hope Vale.

One year ago, Dundee got her YES. 🧡🐾

Some of our long-time followers might remember her as one of the Furwin Family puppies from the Top End.

She had already survived a rough start, but even after coming into care, Dundee still had a fight ahead of her.

As a tiny puppy, she battled parvovirus and then coccidia, spending weeks isolated when she should have been learning about the world around her.

Eventually, she recovered, finished her vaccinations and was finally ready for adoption.

There was just one problem.

Her foster carer, our very own Operations Manager Cecelia, had become rather attached. 😂

“I was absolutely supposed to be ONLY fostering her. But when it actually came time for Dundee to leave, I just couldn’t do it.”

So on 1 October 2025, Dundee officially became part of Cecelia and Jesse’s family.

One year later, she’s a long-legged, affectionate, occasionally destructive couch companion who loves daycare, zoomies and being approximately three centimetres away from her people at all times.

She’s also an anxious girl, and helping her feel safe in the world has become part of life with Dundee.

These days, progress might look like making it three houses further on a walk, stopping for a reset when things feel overwhelming, or choosing to sniff instead of panic.

Small things to most people.

Big wins for Dundee.

Her family has learned that confidence isn’t always linear, and that sometimes success means letting the dog set the pace.

Giving a dog a home doesn’t instantly undo everything that came before it.

Sometimes the most important thing we can give them is time, patience and enough safety to figure the world out in their own way.

One year after her adoption, Dundee is a beautiful reminder that finding a forever home isn’t always the end of the rescue journey.

Sometimes it’s the beginning of a whole new one.

Happy first Gotcha Day, Dundee. 🧡
