headspace Ashfield is a Medicare-funded (low cost or no cost) youth mental health service for 12 - 25 year olds. Looking for someone to talk to?

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. We help young people who are going through a tough time. If you're 12-25, you can get health advice, support and information from headspace. With centres all around Australia, headspace can help you with:

• General health
• Sexual Health
• Mental health and counselling
• Education, employment and other services
• Youth Leadership opportunities
• Youth specific events
• Alcohol and other drug services

So we're here for you if you:

• Are feeling down, stressed or can't stop worrying
• Haven't felt like yourself for a long time
• Can't deal with school or finding it difficult to concentrate
• Are feeling sick or worried about your health
• Want to cut down on your drinking or drug use
• Want to talk about sexuality, identity or relationships
• Are having difficulties with friendships
• Have sexual health issues or want to find out about contraception
• Are being bullied, hurt or harassed
• Are worried about work or study or if you're having money trouble

headspace is a place you can go to talk to someone about any of these issues

headspace was established and funded by the Commonwealth Government of Australia in 2006

Our primary focus is the mental health and wellbeing of all Australians. We know that getting help early is the key to resolving these problems quickly. headspace is making a difference where it is needed most - our young people

What an incredible two days at the Q***r Career Expo held at Ashfield Town Hall on 12–13 June. Our team had the absolute pleasure of being part of an amazing, well organised and special careers expo. There were 560 people came through on day one and 473 people on day two. A massive 61 exhibitors showed up for the LGBTQIA+ community, bringing good conversations, good vibes and real job opportunities to show they are truly inclusive.

A huge thank you to the amazing organisers for pulling together such a powerful event, and an extra‑special shout‑out to Roxie from headspace Ashfield for her energy, coordination and heart. She personally vetted all the stall holders so ensure that everyone who attended were dedicated and safe for the LGBTQIA+ community. We are so grateful to be part of this work and this community.

Make sure you come along to our Board Games and Banter group, a weekly group for young people aged 12-25!

It's not competitive, all games are welcome (bring your own if you're keen!), and come ready to LAUGH! 🤣🤩

We are having such a great time at the Q***R CAREERS EXPO at Ashfield Civic Centre! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

We are back again today (Saturday 13 June), so please come along and find out more from the range of employers that are there to talk with you about potential roles within their organisations! headspace included! 🤩

And for those of you aged 12-25 who could do with some support in the work and study area of their lives, our amazing vocational specialists will be on hand to chat with you about how they can support you as well 🤗

We are so excited to be at the inaugural Q***R CAREERS EXPO this Friday 12th and Saturday 13th June at Ashfield Civic Centre!

Starting at 10am and going through until 4pm on both days, there will be up to 60 employers each day who offer inclusive workplaces and can talk to you about potential roles within their organisations!

A REMINDER THAT OUR RAINBOW ROOM IS ON THIS THURSDAY (14th May from 4pm-6pm)!

This Thursday, we will be playing some fun games as we get to know each other 💚 It's a super chill vibe, and a space for you to connect with others and have a laugh and a bit of fun together! 🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

This group is for young people who identify as part of the LGBTIQA+SB community, and who are aged between 12-18 years old 🙋‍♀️🫶

It's on every second Thursday (from 30th April), between 4:00pm - 6:00pm at headspace Ashfield, and the group will continue to run fortnightly on Thursdays at the same time during school term 💚

Overall throughout the term, we have an awesome schedule of fun activities, chats, chill out times, games, movies, trivia etc for the young people who attend, and the group will provide a relaxed and inclusive safe space for our local teens to find comfort and support, and build genuine friendships as well! 🫶

Activities young people can expect are:

👌Book reviews and discussion
👌Pizza arvo
👌Art and creative activities
👌Lots of games (board games, other games etc)
👌Fancy dress arvo

headspace Ashfield RAINBOW ROOM IS HERE! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🌈 Starting Thursday 30th April from 4pm-6pm, and running fortnightly during school terms, for 12-18yo LGBTIQA+SB young people 💚

This group is for young people who identify as part of the LGBTIQA+SB community, and who are aged between 12-18 years old 🙋‍♀️🫶

From Thursday, 30th April, between 4:00pm - 6:00pm at headspace Ashfield, the group will continue to run fortnightly on Thursdays at the same time during school term 💚
