Alamein Neighbourhood and Learning We are a community centre located opposite Alamein Railway Station.

Alamein is a community house offering English, computer, employment & wellbeing courses +men's shed, a community garden, a strong volunteer program and a CHSP group. We offer courses in work preparation, computers, healthy lifestyles, English, Literacy and Numeracy, horticulture and many more. We have a Men's Shed and run Community lunches and have fortnightly bus trips for people over 65. Come an

We recently attended the 2026 Boroondara Volunteer Awards as part of National Volunteer Week, Thursday 21st May at the beautiful Hawthorn Arts Centre. A great event put on by the BVRC.
Dora was up for Volunteer of the Year award it was an extremely strong category with all worthy volunteers for such an award. Whilst Pat received 30 years of Service Award with her time volunteering at Alamein. Your both winners - we are so grateful, Thank you.

Alamein Neighbourhood and Learning were excited to have Dr Carina Garland Member for Chisholm, visit our Centre, speak to students and thank our volunteers during National Volunteer Week "Your Year to Volunteer". We toured the community garden where a native edibles project has just been completed with the Stronger Communities Programme. Some lead up preparation from our Alamein Men's Shed members and another 3 intense working bees by devoted volunteers saw the project come to life with great leadership from Dean Stewart.

Thanks to Carina for spending time with our volunteers and giving out certificates of appreciation to all involved.

We are excited for what is to come from this garden and look forward to sharing these wonderful ingredients and how to use them with our community in the future.
