Proven Genetics and Planning for Success

Outstanding calves don't happen by chance.
While genetics can always surprise us, successful breeding starts with a plan. The best results come from selecting bulls and females that complement each other and match your breeding objectives.

We look for the perfect calf/offspring as our goal. We want it all calving ease, growth, muscle, maternal strength, temperament and/or carcass performance all known performance indicators of our breed. This takes mating decisions that influences the next generation.

Proven genetics don't guarantee a champion calf, but they improve the odds. Performance records, proven bloodlines and consistent selection over time help breeders make informed decisions and build predictable, productive herds.

Often a great calf represents years of planning and strategic breeding.

Back in April we introduced two Renard Blonde d'Aquitaine steers donated to Mount Compass Area School for the Adelaide Royal Show carcass competition.
We thank Flynn, his handler, for this progress report which is certainly demonstrating the power of the breed in carcass competitions. The steer will be 12 months 2.9.26.

From Flynn
"Just giving you an update on "Bundy". He is tracking along very well . He is very well behaved and continues to progress nicely . As of 18/5/26 he weighs 412kg and is currently averaging 2.79 kg/day. This is a very strong result, especially considering we are aiming for him to gain above 2kg/day consistently due to his large frame and being genetically very muscular due to being a Blonde d'Aquitaine which is helping him perform very well. He has a projected live weight of 713.32 which an estimated carcass weight of 328.13 kg. Overall he is doing a great job and continues to improve each week".

We wish Terry Nolan and family all the best with the pending sale.
Terry is a formidable and reputable authority in the beef industry, winning many carcass competitions with his Blonde d'Aquitaine and Blonde infused cattle.
He has been an advocate for our breed starting with his own Cooloola Blonde stud.

"Industry leaders such as Terry Nolan built successful beef businesses by focusing on efficiency and yield—qualities that have long been hallmarks of Blonde d'Aquitaine cattle. With their exceptional muscling, growth and carcass performance, Blonde cattle continue to offer commercial producers a practical pathway to producing more kilograms of saleable beef."

SUMMARY .
Australia's largest organic meat producer, Hewitt, has agreed to acquire Nolan Meats, a family-owned Queensland meat processing business founded in 1958. The sale marks the end of nearly 70 years of Nolan family ownership and follows health concerns and succession planning considerations.
Brothers Terry, Michael and Tony Nolan chose Hewitt over international buyers because they believed the company shared similar family values and would respect the Nolan legacy. The business, which employs 621 staff and processes around 150,000 cattle annually, will continue operating from Gympie, remaining one of the region's largest private employers.

The acquisition brings together two major Australian agricultural businesses. Hewitt runs more than 100,000 cattle across Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory and sees the purchase as an opportunity to expand market access, product range and future growth. Terry Nolan believes access to greater capital under Hewitt's ownership will accelerate expansion opportunities that may otherwise have taken decades to achieve.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the sale is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026. Terry Nolan will join the Hewitt board during the transition period, helping ensure continuity while preserving the Nolan family's legacy in the Australian beef industry.

Save the Date June 2-4 , 2026.
The Blonde d’Aquitaine Society is encouraging members and supporters to start thinking ahead to FarmFest 2026 — one of Australia’s premier agricultural field days and a fantastic opportunity to showcase the strength, performance and versatility of Blonde cattle to the wider beef industry.

Waite A Wyle Blonde d'Aquitaines will be there and have marked where they will be situated in picture below. I am sure Wayne and Belinda Hess will be happy to meet anyone interested in our Breed. They will also have on display and on offer both pure Blonde and Blonde/Angus composite cattle.

“Muscle where it matters” — showcasing efficiency, performance and commercial value in today’s beef industry.

INVESTING IN THE NEXT GENERATION OF AGRICULTURE LEADERS.

Blonde d'Aquitaine Society President Kyle Mellors with other cattle producers Nathan Valentine and Mark Foster initiated and established the Wallumbilla Cattle Camp in 2024. Its reputation is rapidly growing and recognised as an inspiring youth cattle and beef industry camp held in regional Queensland. It is aimed at young people interested in cattle handling, beef production, leadership and rural industry skills.

Each year organisers work hard and invest their time to give young cattle enthusiasts hands on exposure to a range of skills and knowledge. An example of what's on offer are:
-cattle handling and stockmanship
-judging and parading skills
-butchery and beef education
-leadership and teamwork....but not limited to.

It appears strongly community-driven, with support from local businesses, agricultural groups and sponsors. The organisers focus on keeping young people connected to agriculture and building confidence in rural youth.

The camp also links closely with the local Wallumbilla Show Society and its young judges and paraders competitions, helping encourage the next generation into the beef cattle industry.

We love following the development of the Mellor girls Meakah and Blayze from Melander Blonde d’Aquitaines and feel it's a story that should be shared for the total rural community. This program really does invest in a future generation that will help feed our nation in future years.

Melander Summer pictured certainly did her role in allowing kids to use her as a canvas showing her amazing blonde attributes.

Attention Blonde d’Aquitaine stud members & supporters !!!

Beef 2027 is only 13 months away — NOW is the time to start planning. 377 days from today to 2-8 MAY 2027.

Exhibitors will need to think about if you have not already done so what animals will represent you and the Breed best at this premier world class event held every three years.

We’ve included a link to the official website — entries will open OCTOBER but keep checking the Beef 27 site for updates and get on the mailing list.

There will be four accommodation parks close by for competitors and this will be sorted with your entry. If you are a Blonde or beef supporter planning to attend, start looking at options in Rockhampton now — accommodation is often booked out years in advance.

Renard Blonde Cattle made the journey north in 2018 and are now considering another trek from Victoria — this time with a potential team of up to six head. They say it's on their wish list so will try hard to make it all happen.

They are making some early assessments and reviewing this year’s weaners and older cattle to identify those that will best represent the Blonde breed on the national stage.

One young prospect has already caught their eye — a bull showing excellent early potential. At this stage he demonstrates strength, softness and natural presence and will be weaned in the coming month and monitored closely as preparations continue.

Choosing the Right Sire – Building Profit with Blonde Power
Selecting a sire is one of the most important decisions in any breeding program. In your herds, the bull you choose doesn’t just influence the next calf crop — he shapes the direction, performance and profitability of your herd for years to come.

A quality Blonde sire brings a unique combination of traits that are hard to match. Renowned for their exceptional muscling, Blondes deliver yield where it matters most — high-value cuts with minimal waste.

Blonde sires are also known for their structural soundness, mobility and temperament — all essential for longevity and ease of management. Fertility and maternal strength are equally important, with daughters often proving to be productive, milky and efficient breeders.

When used over other breeds, Blonde sires consistently add value through increased muscle expression, improved yield and heavier, more saleable carcasses. They are widely used to lift performance in British and Euro-cross herds, while still maintaining calving ease and producing quiet, workable progeny. The result is a calf that grows efficiently, finishes well and meets market specifications with less waste and more return.

Adaptability is another key advantage. Whether facing seasonal extremes or variable pasture conditions, Blonde cattle continue to perform, maintaining growth and condition where other breeds may fall behind. Research strongly shows they excel in feedlot conditions over other breeds .

When choosing your next sire, look beyond the visual. Consider genetics, performance data, temperament and how he complements your herd. A well-selected Blonde sire is not just a purchase — it’s a long-term investment in strength, efficiency and profitability.
