I embrace the Australian landscape as a stage, a scene for reflection and for the reimagination of historical narratives. During artist residencies in locations such as the State Library NSW and projects undertaking research at the Natural History Museum, London, I explore archives and public collections to digitally capture colonial paintings, furniture, sculptures, flora and fauna, etc and combine these with my contemporary nature photography. Multilayered imagery is manipulated to create a world of fantasia, a place on the cusp of reality and imagination featuring eccentric natural history tableaux to reawaken our sense of wonder.

The work includes references to historical images including Jacob Janssen's 1848 painting, Sydney Harbour Looking West, from the State Library of NSW collection. By combining these images, the work comments on Australia's colonial history and how perception can be rearranged and re-examined.
