🎙️Expression of Interest - Graduation Event Volunteers

The University of New England’s graduation ceremony is one of the most important events of the year, and the ultimate celebration of a student’s career. It is an acknowledgment of every student’s hard work and commitment to their studies.
To assist in the administration of this event, UNE Life is looking for Volunteers to assist with the event.

We would like to invite you to register for a volunteer to assist in executing our Spring Graduation Ceremonies on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd  of September, depending on the availability of your roster and each employee’s/department’s workload. There are two ceremonies on Thursday at 10:30am and 3pm and one ceremony on Friday at 10:30am.

This is a volunteer role. As a thank you for helping us deliver a memorable graduation, all volunteers will receive a formal certificate of appreciation, and catering will be provided throughout the event.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
• Providing an exceptional level of customer service.
• Responding to on-the-day questions from graduates, families, UNE Staff, and community.
• Provide directional guidance to graduates, families, and the community.
• Assist in the distribution of graduation ceremony booklets and other materials.
• Assist with the set-up and pack-down of key graduation areas including Food & Beverage.
• Communicate effectively across a range of channels: in-person and handheld UHF radios.
• Work collaboratively with other staff to solve issues as quickly and efficiently as possible.
• Report and escalate issues when necessary.
• Assist students in registering their attendance on the day.
• Complete “The Sweep” of the grounds to ensure all registered students are accounted for and seated in their designated seat.
• Provide on the ground support during the ceremony as an usher to facilitate a smooth operation.
• Assist in the organisation and delivery of testamurs on stage during the ceremony to ensure the right testamur goes to the correct graduate.

What a great weekend of sport!

Just some snaps from the President’s Lunch at the New England Rugby Union Grand Final. Thanks to David Carter for entertaining our guests.

Congratulations David for being commended as a life member of NERU.

Congratulations to all the teams who played hard and competed with excellent sportsmen/womenship, and a big thank you to all who came out to Bellevue for the day.

Our team works hard every year to deliver this event, and the atmosphere did not disappoint! ✨

🎤🏆 SFK DEBATING RESULTS 🏆🎤

In the penultimate round of SFK for 2026, it was a close head-to-head battle between Austin Page and Mary White on the debating stage. In a night that dove into the complexities of AI and fast fashion, the two teams were very evenly matched.

In the end, it was Mary White who took the win, setting up a close race to the finish for the overall SFK winner.

Thank you to everyone who brought the night together, specifically UNE Life Events and Catering, Tune FM 106.9, the SFK representative from Duval College, and our judges.

The final scores on the night were:
🥇 Mary White: 472 points
🥈 Austin Page: 448 points

The last round of SFK for 2026 is coming up next week! Mass Participation is at Lazenby Hall on August 31st, so speak with your college's SFK reps to get involved!
