Shout-out to our friends from The Northern Daily Leader for their support with this incredibly important training.

"For the first time in the region, Lifeline New England North West will hold seven free su***de prevention training sessions, just for boys (16+) and their dads, grandfathers, mentors or mate of choice.

Funded by the Primary Health Network, the courses will bring young men, their fathers, grandfathers, coaches or mentors together to talk about su***de in a masculine and stigma-free environment."

On Thursday, we held a press call in Tamworth to shine a light on Lifeline New England North Westโ€™s new su***de prevention training aimed at Men and Boys, launching across the New England and North West.

Media spoke with our Community Engagement Coordinator, Kimberley Squires, alongside Tim Hollis from Tamworth Livestock Agents, about why this program is so important for regional communities. Together they highlighted the urgent need to support boys and men, reduce stigma and create safer, more open conversations about mental health, particularly in traditionally masculine environments such as agriculture.

For the first time in our region, these free training sessions will bring boys aged 16 and over together with their dad, grandfather, uncle, mentor or mate of choice. The program is designed to strengthen relationships, build confidence to talk about su***de and give participants practical skills to help save a life.

The Boys and Their Men SafeTALK sessions will be delivered across Tamworth, Manila, Gunnedah and Armidale, with the first workshops taking place at Tamworth Community Centre on 30 April and 1 May from 4.30pm to 8.30pm.
