We were privileged to support Perth Childrenโ€™s Hospitalโ€™s Burns Awareness Month event alongside Kidsafe WA.

It was a genuine honour to meet so many children, families and dedicated hospital staff, and to play a small role in helping raise awareness of burn prevention and safety around the home.

Seeing the smiles on the faces of the young visitors and having the opportunity to engage with the community is what volunteering is all about

This week is National Volunteer Week, and we want to take a moment to recognise and celebrate the incredible volunteers who make up the Armadale Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service.

Behind every pager going off is a team of ordinary people doing extraordinary things for our community. Whether itโ€™s 2am in the morning, straight after a long day at work, giving up weekends, or missing time with family, our volunteers continue to answer the call when our community needs us most.

People often see us on scene at house fires, bushfires, road crashes, storms, rescues, and community events โ€” but what many donโ€™t see are the countless hours of training, equipment maintenance, fundraising, and preparation that happen behind the scenes to ensure weโ€™re always ready to respond.

National Volunteer Week is about recognising and celebrating the people who selflessly give their time to support others, and we are incredibly proud of every member of our brigade โ€” past and present. Thank you to our volunteers for your dedication, commitment, sacrifices, and the support you continue to show one another.

We also want to give a special thank you to the families, partners, friends, and loved ones behind our volunteers. Your support, understanding, and sacrifices play a huge part in allowing our members to continue serving the community, and it never goes unnoticed.

To all volunteers everywhere, thank you for what you do. And to our community โ€” if you see a volunteer this week, take a moment to say thank you. It means more than you know. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘

Members from the Armadale VFRS recently had the opportunity to assist DFES with a Hazard Reduction Burn in the Serpentine area alongside local crews and BFS / VFRS brigades from across the metropolitan region.

These activities provide valuable opportunities for firefighters to work together, build inter-agency relationships, and strengthen operational capability in preparation for bushfire season.

Importantly, hazard reduction burns also provide an excellent environment for new and probationary firefighters to gain experience and develop their understanding of fire behaviour, bushfire suppression techniques, and safe firefighting operations within a controlled setting.

๐Ÿš’ Armadale Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service โ€“ Stepping Up for MSWA ๐Ÿš’

Members from Armadale Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service are stepping up and taking on the MSWA Step Up challenge.

Weโ€™ll be climbing Perthโ€™s tallest building, Central Park Tower, tackling 1,103 stairs to the topโ€ฆ wearing 30kg of full operational firefighting gear, including breathing apparatus cylinder, mask and all.

A massive thank you to Club Lime Forrestdale for getting behind the team and supporting us with free gym memberships while we train and prepare for the climb. Their support is playing a huge part in helping us get ready for this challenge, and we really appreciate them backing our crew and this cause. If you are looking for a new gym with modern state of the art equipment, be sure to head down and check them out.

If youโ€™re able to support, weโ€™d really appreciate it. Every donation counts ๐Ÿ’™

Bushfire season may be over, but training continues at Armadale VFRS ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ’ง

Over the past week, members have undertaken pumping operations and road crash rescue training, maintaining capability across both fire and rescue disciplines.
These sessions ensure crews remain prepared to respond effectively to a range of incidents throughout the year.

Last night, crews from Armadale Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service conducted a combined training drill with Bedfordale Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade at their fire station. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’

The session focused on key firefighting skills including pumping operations, hose lays, drafting, and protecting Rural Urban Interface (RUI). Critical techniques that help us safeguard homes and communities on the edge of bushland. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ”ฅ

Training together like this strengthens our teamwork, builds capability, and ensures weโ€™re ready to respond when it matters most. It also gives members the opportunity to share knowledge and experience across brigades in a practical, hands-on environment. ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ”ฅ

A big thank you to Bedfordale for hosting and to all volunteers who gave up their evening to take part. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ
