A retired engineer, William is doing everything he can to make ends meet. He grows his own veggies and watches every dollar. But the cost of petrol means getting out of the house is harder these days. He hasn’t seen his sister in two months. He misses going fishing.
“It’s hurting. It’s lonely.”
When we met William at our Mobile Supermarket Bus in Melton, he told us Foodbank’s support helps ease some of the pressure.
“Help from Foodbank means I can save money for other things.”
Foodbank’s support can’t solve every challenge, but it can help create a little breathing room. And puts food on the table every night. 💜😊

Pour yourself a cup of ambition... and maybe an extra serve of veggies while you’re at it. At today’s Plus One Serve market at Monash, we were all about ensuring people had access to more fresh veg. Our truck was loaded with onions, potatoes, oranges, capsicum, eggplant, beetroot and carrots. And we cooked up a delicious sweet potato and lentil soup – and encouraged everyone to give it a go at home. The best bit? Every ingredient was available at the market today. One extra serve of veggies, what a way to make a difference. 💜

Meet Ashleigh.
Every week, Ashleigh and her mum Sue volunteer at our Ballarat Community Food Centre, and it’s hard to imagine the place without them. 

Ashleigh has just celebrated her 1 year of volunteering with us. She loves making coffees and has taught herself latte art by watching YouTube videos at home. It’s her favourite part of volunteering, and she’s pretty proud of what she can create.
But ask anyone at the Centre and they’ll tell you it’s not just the coffee that keeps people smiling. Ashleigh brings so much joy, enthusiasm and positivity to every shift, and somehow manages to put a smile on everyone’s face.😊
Thanks for making our Ballarat Community Food Centre a brighter place, Ashleigh. 💜

You may ask, “What have you been up to lately, Foodbank?”
Well, this week we sent Mobile Supermarket buses out on the road, ran Farms to Families Markets, packed kilos upon kilos of food with our amazing volunteers, distributed food to charity partners right across Victoria, welcomed Foodbank CEOs from around Australia and even hosted Premier Ben Carroll at our Ballarat Community Food Centre.
It’s been a week.
