Patchworkers and Quilters Guild of Victoria

Patchworkers and Quilters Guild of Victoria We make friendship the cornerstone of our Guild and encourage our members to share and extend their skills. https://victorianquilters.org/

We are a group of quilters with different skill levels and experience who foster the art and craft of patchwork and quilting from traditional to modern and art quilts. Since the group began in 1978, we have strived to fulfil the following aims:
- To promote patchwork and quilting with monthly meetings and events
- To improve our knowledge and skills with guest speakers, skill sharing and teaching

workshops
- To make quilts for community organisations through our Caring & Sharing program
- To produce a biennial members exhibition
- To stage a biennial Quilt-In on alternate years to the member's exhibition
- To keep in contact with our members through our newsletters, website and Facebook
- To offer an extensive library of books and magazines for member enjoyment

Our members come from all over the Melbourne metropolitan area, meeting once a month to talk about quilting, share projects, sew and inspire each other. Members provide a great source of ideas and direction, guiding the Committee each year. We are a non-profit organisation incorporated in Victoria. Funds generated by the Guild are used to fulfil our educational goals and support a variety of charities. Patchwork and Quilter Guild of Victoria is a member group of Victorian Quilters Inc.

Many people may have know Annemarie who worked at The Patchwork Teahouse was also a part of Waverley Patchworkers Inc and Phillip Island Patchworkers. She passed away earlier this year and her daughter is holding a sale of Annemarie’s stash.

Get along to Ringwood this weekend to help her family clear her stash.

A bright filled day at our June general meeting.

🧁We had delicious treats raising money for the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea. We raised $290.

🪡An inspiring talk from Tania Tanti showcasing her work from across her journey as a textile artist. Her work included a range of quilts she bought with her and some animated quilts in her PowerPoint presentation. Tania also had a pop up shop with bright and colour works, magnets and postcards for sale. Thank you Tania.

This month we have a Board member from Impact coming to speak with us and explain their services and ways that we can help them provide those services.

Impact exists to make a difference to Victorian women and children escaping extreme violence at home. They do this by providing gifts and services that are practical, grassroots and common-sense.

We are collecting donations for Impact of personal items listed and drawstring bags.
You can sew bags that finish 30cm wide x 40cm long with a turn over drawstring/cord.

So for now… buy what you can manage and sew as many bags as you can, it will all be much appreciated.

At our April general meeting we had the theme of 'My First Quilt' for our show and tell. While we had some great quilts from our members, head over to our page to check them out, we also had a display of a collection of the guild quilts, including our very first quilt.
As the oldest quilt guild in Victoria our first quilt is 48 years old. Amazing to see the quilts from across the years of the guild. Some of which did not have labels, so very little is known about them. If you know or were involved in the making of any of them, please feel free to let us know more about them.
Details in the captions. Tag your friends or share to those who may have been involved in making these.
