Alkimos Beach Walkers – Up All Night 2026

This March, we’re taking part in Up All Night, walking 21 km overnight to help provide a home away from home and services that support the well being of WA families with sick kids.

For families who need to travel long distances so their children can access specialist medical care, sleepless nights are unfortunately part of the journey. By walking a night in their shoes, we hope to support these families at a time when they need it most.

The funds we raise will help provide accommodation, food, support and stability for families with sick kids who simply want to spend loving time together during the hardest moments of their lives.

We’d be grateful for your support. You’re welcome to join our team or donate. Every contribution helps.

Support any of our members through their individual pages:

• Rachel – https://www.upallnight.org.au/fundraisers/racheltomlinson/up-all-night-2026

Any donations made to individual team members will contribute to the overall Alkimos Beach Walkers team total, helping us reach our collective goal.

Thank you for helping make a difference for WA families with sick kids through your kindness.

We're taking part in Up All Night to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia (RMHCWA). Walking in an overnight marathon isn’t going to be easy, but it’s nothing compared to being the parent of a sick child. Every day, families from across WA come to Perth so that their ...

I'm staying Up All Night for WA families with sick kids

This March, we're taking part in Up All Night, walking overnight to help provide a home away from home and services that support the well-being of WA families with sick kids.

For families with sick kids needing to travel far from home to access specialist medical care, sleepless nights are sadly just part of the deal.
By walking a night in their shoes, I can help these families at a time when they need it most.

The funds I raise can help provide accommodation, support and stability for families with sick kids who just want to spend loving time together during the hardest time of their lives.

Could you give a generous donation to help Ronald McDonald House WA continue to provide support to families with sick kids, 24/7 365 days a year?

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of WA families with sick kids through your kindness!

Hi Residents,

Apologies for the lengthy message, I've done my best to keep this summary clear.

Here is the response from Stockland and the City of Wanneroo regarding the issues we raised through the online petition and our meetings with the City Mayor and Stockland representatives,

🚸 Marmion Avenue School Crossing Safety
Can a safer crossing be installed for children attending Alkimos College across Marmion Ave?
1. A Guard Controlled crossing has been approved.
2. The City is working with Main Roads WA to implement it, scheduled for January 2026.

🌱 Mulch & Landscaping at Roundabouts
Why is there a lack of mulch or degraded mulch at key roundabouts like Mirabilis Ave/Shellharbour Prom and Leatherback Blvd/Painted Parkway?
1. City of Wanneroo confirmed roundabouts under their control meet required standards. Streetscapes are maintained every 3 weeks (17 times annually).
2. Mirabilis/Shellharbour roundabout is yet to be landscaped. Stockland will seek community input on tree selection via a Facebook poll.
3. Leatherback/Painted Parkway will receive mulch after duplication works are completed.

🌿 Verge Maintenance & W**ds
Why are many street verges overgrown with weeds and dead plants?
1. W**d control is difficult due to recent rain and warm weather.
2. Verges under City control are maintained every 3 weeks.
3. Disconnected verges from elevated lots are being assessed for inclusion in the maintenance schedule.
4. More info: Streetscape Service Review

🌲 Dead Trees & Neglected Verges
Why are there dead trees and neglected verges across several streets?
1. Stockland is responsible for parts of Pectoral Prom and Graceful Blvd.
2. The City is responsible for Turnstone, Picasso Prom, Providence Dr, Hawksbill and Mirabilis Ave.
3. Stockland is working with the City to rectify and hand over remaining areas.

🌳 Tree Suggestions for Roundabouts
Can Pine and Peppermint trees be planted at the new Mirabilis/Shellharbour roundabout and Bathers St/Graceful Blvd roundabout?
1. Landscaping for Mirabilis/Shellharbour is planned for 2026.
2. Norfolk Pines aren’t permitted. Peppermint trees are used throughout, but a Tuart tree was chosen due to soil conditions.

🌳 Turnstone Street Trees
Are the deciduous trees on Turnstone Street healthy or do they need replacing?
1. The trees are deciduous and currently in good health.

🗑️ Bins & Pet Signage
Why are there so few bins and dog signage across Alkimos Beach and Vista?
1. Stockland will install bins as requested for parks under them.
2. The City will roll out bins and poo bags to 486 parks over the next 5 years.
3. Developer specs will be reviewed to include standard bins and dispensers in new parks.

🚻 Bathers Park Toilet Signage
Why does the toilet at Bathers Park have a “Gentlemen” sign when it’s unisex?
1. Stockland will replace the sign with a clearly marked unisex sign. Thanks to ABPA for raising this.

🧒 Bathers Park Toddler Slide
Can the limestone rock batter around the toddler slide be made safer?
1. Equipment is safe and compliant.
2. Stockland will add more sand at the slide’s base and review the top for a potential small safety barrier.

🚴 Bathers Park Pump Track Area
What’s happening with the bike track/exercise area near Bathers Park?
1. The pump track was a temporary installation.
2. Stockland will assess timing for returning the area to turf, pending community use feedback.

🏖️ Bathers Promenade Beach Access
Why is the beach access via Bathers Promenade car park unsafe?
1. Stockland is aware of erosion issues and has engaged a coastal engineer. The path is currently closed for safety.

🏀 Leatherback Park Basketball Area
Can a safety fence be added to separate the basketball court from the road?
1. The court is set back and buffered by other features, reducing risk.

🤝 Council Engagement
Can Council representatives attend a resident meeting to discuss parks, verges, and native planting?
1. The City is happy to attend with advance notice.

🏠 ABPA Meeting Space Request
Can residents use the Leatherback Pavilion room for ABPA meetings?
1. The City’s Community Facilities Planning team is reviewing this request.

Thanks
ABPA

Hi All,

Please find below the response from Council regarding the petition:

"Dear ABPA

Please be advised the City has received your petition for the concerns from residents for the deteriorating conditions of verges and smaller parks throughout Alkimos Beach and Alkimos Vista which will be presented at the next Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 25 November 2025. Please note; the petition will be tabled only on this date and will not be on the agenda for discussion.

Once presented at the Ordinary Council Meeting, the responsible Administrative Directorate will contact you to advise on the timeline for action of the matter.

Kind regards"

Additionally, we met with the Stockland Development Manager and the City's Land Development Management team last week to discuss the concerns raised by Alkimos residents and are currently awaiting a formal response from them.

We will keep you updated as we receive more information.

Hi Alkimos Residents,

Over the weekend, we met with the City Mayor and Councillor Sonet Coetzee to discuss concerns raised through our online petition, along with additional feedback from the community.

Here’s a quick summary of what was covered:

Waste Management & Signage

1. More bins and pet signage are needed across Alkimos Beach and Alkimos Vista.
2. Additional bins are also needed near the shopping precinct and the bus stop outside Hungry Jack’s.

Safety & Infrastructure

1. A safety fence is needed between the basketball court at Leatherback Park Pavilion and the adjacent street.
2. The toddler slide area at Bather’s Park, surrounded by limestone rock batter, needs a safety barrier.
3. The beach access via Bather’s Promenade car park is unsafe due to an unstable road end and shifted rock batter.

Maintenance & Landscaping

1. Dead trees and neglected verges were noted across several streets including Pectoral Promenade, Turnstone Street, Graceful Blvd, Hawksbill Drive, Providence Drive, Mirabilis Ave, and Picasso Promenade.
2. The roundabout at Mirabilis Ave & Shellharbour Promenade needs urgent attention.
3. The roundabout at Bather’s Street and Graceful Blvd could be improved with a mix of Pine and Peppermint trees.

Amenities & Community Access

1. Bather’s Park lacks unisex toilet facilities.
2. The bike track and exercise area on the other side of Bather’s Park needs revitalisation.
3. We’re looking into gaining access to the Leatherback Pavilion room for Alkimos Beach Progress Association resident meetings.

We’re currently waiting on a formal response and will share updates as soon as we hear back.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Alkimos Beach Progress Association

We’ve reached an exciting milestone, our petition has now gathered 300 signatures, thanks to your incredible support in signing and sharing it.

We’re pleased to share that Mayor Linda Aitken and Councillor Sonet have committed to meeting with us in person to walk through the estate and see the issues firsthand.

In parallel, we’ve begun the formal petition submission process with the City of Wanneroo and are currently finalising the necessary paperwork to ensure everything is in order.

The online petition will close on Friday, 12 September at 12:00pm. If you haven’t had a chance to sign or share it yet, now’s the perfect time to get involved and make your voice heard.

Your continued support is what’s driving this forward. Together, we can help restore the verges and parks of Alkimos Beach and Alkimos Vista, and work towards meaningful change with the Council’s support.

Hi AB residents,

We mentioned a couple of days ago about starting an petition regarding our Park & Verges. Before we use the manual form on the Council's website, we believe the easiest way is to collect signatures through an online petition, which we can then share with Stockland and the City of Wanneroo.

Please sign and share it with others.
