Thank you, Anne-Marie.

After nine years on the Sunshine Trust board, serving as both Secretary and Treasurer, Anne-Marie Humphries’ term has come to an end.

As Treasurer, she never lost sight of where every donation came from. “Every dollar we invest is a dollar that someone’s put their hand in their own pocket for.”

During her time, Anne-Marie helped the Trust put over $7 million where it was needed most, from new equipment, to the Wellness Centre, research and education.

Anne-Marie always believed small comforts matter just as much as big pieces of equipment, and her legacy can be felt in every service the Trust provides.

“I genuinely feel privileged to have been on the board for that period of time. It’s been a wonderful and really rewarding experience.”

12 years of community giving.

Since our first grant of $29,672 to the Wellness Centre in 2014-15, our community has helped Sunshine Trust contribute close to $7.375 million to local cancer care.

Here’s how your donations have greatly impacted our local community:

▫️ $2.9 million in new equipment, reducing the need to travel to Melbourne or Sydney
▫️ $2.3 million to the Wellness Centre and support programs
▫️ $1 million to research, giving local people access to leading clinical trials
▫️ $565,000 in education and training for staff
▫️ Plus ongoing support for Cancer Care Coordinators for adults and children

Thank you for joining us at our 2026 AGM.

Last night we celebrated our first year as Sunshine Trust and reflected on everything our community achieved together in 2025-26.

A few highlights from the year:

▫️ Close to $1.26 million raised
▫️ Over $920,000 contributed to local cancer care
▫️ More than $403,000 raised through community events
▫️ Over $358,000 raised by Sunshine Walk and Sunshine Ride combined
▫️ Close to $7.375 million contributed to local cancer care since 2014-15

$100,000 raised, one can at a time.

Huge congratulations to Wayne Lamb, whose Cans for Cancer initiative has now raised over $100,000 for Sunshine Trust.

Since starting in 2018-19, Wayne has turned collecting cans and bottles into lasting support for local cancer care.

Every can adds up, and Wayne is living proof that no effort is too small to make a big difference.

Your support stays local and helps keep cancer care close to home.

Breast reconstruction, close to home.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we spoke with plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr Queenie Chan from Albury Wodonga Health.

Dr Queenie talks us through the breast reconstruction options available locally, including autologous DIEP flap surgery, and how her team supports patients from first contact through to recovery.

This kind of surgery can improve comfort, reduce anxiety, and help restore confidence for women after breast cancer.

“We work closely with our breast surgeons and care nurses to make sure patients are supported from their first consultation, through surgery, to recovery at home.”

In 2020, community fundraising, including over $200,000 raised at the 2019 Sunshine Walk, allowed Sunshine Trust to fund $337,000 in specialist surgical equipment, including a surgical microscope, skin graft machine, vessel coupler, and Doppler ultrasound.

That investment helped bring Dr Queenie to our region and means around 38 women a year no longer need to travel to Melbourne for reconstruction surgery.

Care close to home, and close to the people who matter most.

Your generosity made this possible.

Dr Queenie wants to remind everyone that these services depend on referrals and awareness. She urges, “If you are a GP, a breast care nurse, or part of a breast care team, please make sure you have that conversation with your patients early on.

The decision doesn’t have to be made straight away, but a referral keeps the door open and gives women a choice.”
