Two of our volunteers spent their Saturday completing their induction into the VRA Rescue NSW RPAS unit, performing mission flights and NVLOS allowing them to operate drones at night.

A great day of training that will benefit our community during emergencies.

Earlier this evening the Albury & Border Rescue Squad attended a single vehicle collision on the Riverina Highway.

Please remember if you see blue and red emergency lights, slow down, be prepared to stop and move aside for emergency vehicles.

A great example of not only interagency cooperation but interstate agencies working side by side.

🌳 Usually it's a cat stuck in a tree... yesterday, it was a car. 🚗

Our volunteers responded to a motor vehicle collision yesterday that left a vehicle lodged in a tree, certainly not the kind of "stuck in a tree" call we're used to.

When the unexpected happens, our squad is equipped with the specialised rescue tools, equipment and training needed to respond safely and effectively. From road crash rescue to a wide range of other emergencies, our members train every Tuesday night to develop and maintain the skills required for these challenging incidents.

Behind every rescue is countless hours of training, teamwork and preparation, ensuring we're ready when our community needs us most.

Incidents like this are a timely reminder that things can change in an instant on our roads. Please drive to the conditions, stay alert and help keep yourself and others safe.

This morning, our members, together with members from Corowa Rescue Squad, were invited across the river to participate in the Ron Finemore Transport Emergency Response Exercise.

It's always a great opportunity to gain experience working with heavy vehicle incidents in our region alongside our colleagues from Fire and Rescue NSW, CFA (Country Fire Authority), and Fire Rescue Victoria.

We're grateful that our volunteers are willing to give up their time to take part in valuable exercises like these, helping to strengthen our skills, build interagency relationships, and ensure we're better prepared to serve our communities when it matters most.

Over the past few days, our region has experienced several serious road collisions, including incidents that have tragically claimed lives.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected, the families, friends, witnesses, and all emergency service personnel involved.

It's a sobering reminder that every journey matters. Please take care on our roads, be patient with one another, and do what you can to help everyone get home safely.

🙏 Stay Safe.

Not every call-out involves lights and sirens.
Our volunteers recently enjoyed spending time with the children and educators at Goodstart Early Learning Thurgoona, showing them our rescue truck, talking about what we do, and answering plenty of great questions.
While we're proud of the work we do during emergencies, visits like this are some of the most rewarding parts of volunteering.
Connecting with our community and seeing the excitement on the kids' faces reminds us why we do what we do.
Thanks for having us, Goodstart Early Learning Thurgoona
