What a day! We had the joy of taking one of our lucky winners, Mason, up for a flight over Albany. His smile said it all as we soared above some of the city’s iconic sights and even flew over his own Little Grove school! 🛩️💙

We were honoured to witness 4 aircraft soaring in formation over Albany today. The timing was perfect—flying overhead right as the Last Post echoed at 11am, on the 11th day of the 11th month. A powerful tribute.

Steve with his lovely Glassair outside her new home Hangar at Albany

Club Treasurer Steve built this lovely Glassair 2 . It has been based at Serpentine as Steve used to live in Perth . Yesterday we flew it down to her new home in Albany in the club lease hangar ! Great to have another member’s plane based here . Great plane - TAS of around 185 knots. Yesterday we had a huge tailwind and had a ground speed between 230 and 240 knots! That was really moving! Fun plane- certainly keeps you on your toes on approach and landing. 😅

Most of the season the whale survey involves 2 aircraft to cover the distance/ time / whale numbers. Seen here swapping over at Bremer Bay and the luxury of stopping for a cuppa at the change over 👌

Aero Club members support Southern Right Whale conservation by flying aerial whale counting surveys along 220 miles of coastline east Albany . The project has been going for 5 seasons now
