Let's light up the coastline! 🏮✨
We’re seeking 200 Lantern Leaders to support and guide our community for Carrying the Fire on Saturday, 7 November 2026! 🌊🔥
As a Lantern Leader, you are at the very heart of this living artwork. You will lead groups of lantern-bearers to perform some simple movements in unison between Emu Point and Binalup/Middleton Beach, syncing your lanterns with our custom event app. Together, your torchlights will pulse in rhythm, turning thousands of participants into a massive, glowing river of light captured live from the sky by high-definition drones! ✨

🎪 Roller up to the circus! 🎪
Southern Edge Arts is bringing the incredible Porridge and Honey—the hilarious and astonishing circus duo starring Cassy Turner and Harpo Grant—to perform a special halftime show for the Albany Roller Derby League!
Catch high-energy roller derby action on the track, followed by mind-blowing partner acrobatics during the break.

We are excited to share that Flipside Circus will be joining us in Albany next Monday! Flipside Circus is an award-winning, non-profit arts organisation that has empowered young people and communities through circus since 1994. Across Queensland, they give young people the chance to learn new skills, test their limits, and express themselves creatively. Let’s give them a big, warm, circus family welcome!

🌿 Gather & Weave Light for Carrying the Fire 🌿

As you head out to trim the garden for the The City of Albany municipal green waste collection kicking off next week, consider the possibilities!

In the lead up to Carrying the Fire, why not turn some of your prunings into a Kwornt lantern - weaving a form inspired by Menang Country and the traditional structures created by the First architects. ✨Learning from mistakes ✨

This term’s SEA-Arts Wellbeing Factor is all about learning from our mistakes!

At SEA, we embrace making mistakes as a pathway to creativity. Experimenting and giving things a go is how we learn, play and create. Often mistakes lead to new discoveries and ideas and it’s an important skill to develop as a performer. It can also be lots of fun!

Join a special group of 200 Lantern Leaders who will guide the creation of a spectacular community-driven light installation along Middleton Beach, Kinjarling - Albany for the closing of the Albany 2026 program.

We’re looking for 200 passionate people (ages 15+) to guide the public in a simple, beautiful procession along the beach or boardwalk. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️✨

Last week, our Social and Emotional Wellbeing in the Arts (SEW-Arts) Producer, Zoe Street, attended the Creative Learning Showcase alongside fellow artists, teachers, and educators! 🎭🎨✨
Together, they explored how we can collaborate to facilitate safe, supportive environments for creative risk-taking, resilience, play, and navigating the unknown. 💡👏

Make your creative work count this Census! 🎭✨
Whether you’re a circus facilitator, set designer, stage manager, or performing freelancer, every creative role in regional WA matters.
Generic titles like "artist" or "contractor" leave our sector hidden. Be specific about your actual role and main duties on Tuesday, 11 August 2026 so regional youth and community arts get the funding, representation, and infrastructure we deserve.
