This morning, Southern Aboriginal Corporation was honoured to welcome Gayle Mitchell, Executive Director of the Office of Homelessness, together with Louise Koyd and Lucy Greer, during their visit to Albany.

Our CEO, Asha Bhat, met with the team to discuss the challenges and opportunities surrounding homelessness, housing security, and the delivery of culturally safe and responsive support services for Aboriginal people and diverse communities across regional Western Australia.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to share insights, explore common goals, and strengthen collaborative approaches that support individuals and families experiencing housing vulnerability. Through partnership and shared commitment, we can create more effective pathways to safe housing, wellbeing, and community connection.

We thank Gayle, Louise, and Lucy for taking the time to visit and engage in these important conversations. We look forward to continuing to work together to create positive outcomes for our communities.

What an incredible two days in Bunbury! 🌟

We brought together our FVPLS team from all four offices for joint training, and the energy in the room was something special.

Together we:
βœ… Celebrated hitting our 2025/26 goals
πŸ“‹ Stayed across important policy, systems, and compliance updates
πŸ’™ Deepened our trauma-informed practice through dedicated training
🎯 Collaborated on a shared direction for 2026/27

It's rare to have everyone in the same place β€” and coming together face to face made this time truly meaningful. These are the moments that strengthen not just our practice, but our people.

Productive, energising, and full of purpose. We're proud of this team and excited for the year ahead.

Yesterday, we farewelled Antonia and acknowledged her contribution as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with SAC.

We thank Antonia for the support, dedication and professionalism she brought to her role and wish her every success in her future endeavours.

The occasion was also an opportunity to celebrate Ebony’s journey. Ebony joined SAC as a trainee and has worked hard to develop her skills and experience over time. We are proud to see her progress into a facilitator role, a reflection of her commitment to learning, growth and supporting community.

As we reflect on these milestones, we also acknowledge the conclusion of SAC’s First Nations Family Dispute Resolution Program on 30 June. The program has provided culturally safe and family centred dispute resolution services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, supporting stronger communication, understanding and positive outcomes for families.

Thank you, Antonia, for your contribution to SAC, and congratulations, Ebony, on this important achievement.

Arrivals and Opening Reflections:

The official photos from our National Sorry Day event have arrived, and we are honoured to share some of the opening moments from the day.

These highlights capture the arrivals, welcome, and opening speeches that set the tone for such a meaningful event.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and stood together in acknowledgement of the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations survivors.
