Ladies - we are currently seeking expressions of interest for Pennants players for the 2026/2027 season. Please ensure your name is down on the sheet at the club or call selector Ros Holdman on 0428 354 032 to discuss your interest in playing for our club this coming season.

Hi MBBC members - if you have an iinet or westnet email account - there is an issue as the newsletter I have just emailed to you has been rejected with this error message:

Just letting you know so you can check with your provider what the problem is.!

Wednesday 27th

The cool weather and no breeze drew 28 players to the C Green for Social bowls. Two rinks of triples and two rinks of fours played off for the coveted yellow envelopes. Only one 2 game winner today and only two places paid.

2nd Place: Warren Barr, Bev Taylor (BT) & Jim Hull 1 + 8
WINNERS: Trevor Daniel, Kevin Siviour, Wendy Faithfull & Stephen Brown 2 + 6

Friday 29th

Only 13 intrepid bowlers braved the showery conditions to come out to the A Green in the quest for the coveted yellow envelopes. Therefore only one place was paid today. The lucky winners were:

Noel Skinner, Peter Wiscombe and Wendy Faithfull 2 + 5

Raffles:

Meat packs: Peter Wiscombe, Margaret Boyd (RSL) and Elizabeth Taylor (RSL)

2 cans: Carole Tonkinson, Frank Greguol

Club Draw: Member #54 Janette Sherry – not present

Ladies Captain Carole Tonkinson – present no news

Mens Captain Les Holt – present no news

President Steve Faulkner – not present – he is off having eye surgery – here’s hoping it will improve his bowling out of sight!! (see what I did there!). VP Ken Richardson-Newton once more stepped into the breach to try and keep control of the crew, who were rowdy despite the low numbers.

Congratulations to the teams of Noel Skinner, John Hanson and Baz Rendell and Fred Holt, Jim Hull and Harvey Waddell who won their sections of the BPL Cup at Emu Point last Saturday. As only one team can go through to the State final, there will need to be a playoff game, and Bowls Australia will let them know when that will be happening. We will keep you posted for that event.

Please be advised that there are mouse deterrents in the power points around the club so please don’t remove them as they are very effective at keeping the unwanted visitors away.

From next week the hot food will commence being served on Friday nights. We will be starting with party pies and sausage rolls alternating to hot chips the next week. Thank you to Beryl, Olivia, Trevor and Ros Holdman and Ann Hornibrook for making this possible. If you are able to help out in the kitchen during July on a Friday please see Olivia or Beryl as all help will be appreciated.
A reminder that Jack Club for the men will still be on Sunday even though it is a Public Holiday this weekend and that Jill Club for the Ladies commences on Sunday 7th of June.
