3‑year‑old Doberman looking for a new home due to the ongoing rental crisis, which has made it extremely difficult to secure accommodation that accepts large‑breed dogs. He is a classic Doberman—affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he is right by your side.
He has a comfort blanket that he loves to suck on when he’s feeling relaxed or looking for reassurance, and if he can’t find his own, he may steal yours. He loves stretching out on the bed and will happily take up as much space as you'll allow. His morning stretches and yawns are a joy to wake up to, and he has a funny little “dance” he does when he’s excited.
Because he always wants to be close to his people, he can become upset if left outside while you’re inside. If he can see you through a door, he may scratch at it to get your attention, or to let you know he needs to go out. He does not jump on doors or people, and regular nail trims have helped reduce any scratching. He does not dig holes and generally spends his days lounging in the sun and enjoying the quiet.
He has a partial Achilles tear in his back left leg, caused by a sudden twinge while running. After veterinary assessment, he was advised to rest and avoid sprinting or fast, high‑impact activities. Surgery was not recommended, as it could cause more harm than good, so gentle exercise and controlled movement are best for him going forward. He can be reactive to bikes and will bark at them, so walking him requires someone confident and physically capable. I use a specialised harness that helps manage his strength and enthusiasm.
He is good with other dogs, though he may initially bark and appear intimidating before settling. He is also good with children, but because of his size and excitement, he sometimes forgets how big he is. Despite these quirks, he is incredibly loving, loyal, and full of personality. He truly deserves a patient, caring home that can give him the companionship and understanding he thrives on.
This will be a private adoption with details to come.
