πππ₯π£π ππ¦ππππ the first of our keynote speakers for the Great Southern Aboriginal Leadership Conference, Laurence Riley π€
πΏ Laurence is a proud Noongar man who works for his community as Assistant Ombudsman for Aboriginal Engagement and Collaboration.
Laurence's roots are deeply embedded in Wilman Country, hailing from Narrogin π₯Ύ With a rich and diverse ethnic background, Laurence is connected to various regions across WA. However, it's his Noongar heritage that resonates most profoundly π₯β¬οΈπ¨
Over the past two decades, his experience has spanned education, health, social and emotional well-being, mental health, justice, housing, employment, and corrective services πβοΈ
When Laurence took on his current role, he became the very first Aboriginal person in the fifty-year history of the Western Australian Ombudsman's office to serve as a Corporate Executive member. He provides strategic leadership and high-level guidance to support the Ombudsman in all endeavours, but his focus remains on delivering exceptional services to Aboriginal Western Australians.
π What truly sets Laurence apart is his unwavering passion for social justice, equity, and better access to services. He's a tireless advocate for Aboriginal people, working for change in our communities and systems, striving to ensure inclusivity, growth, and improvements in services and programs for all Aboriginal people π±
Laurence firmly believes that the only way we can progress as a community is by acknowledging our shared history and responding to it proactively ππΎ
We're beyond thrilled to have Laurence Riley as one of our keynote speakers! Get ready for an inspirational conference β¦ stay tuned for updates π’π
