League Battle Report – Bastion Task Force vs Steelhammer Plus

Another cracking game in our monthly league, with Dan’s Black Templars (Bastion Task Force) taking on Doc’s Steelhammer Plus Designation Task Force in Take and Hold.

Dan’s big Crusader bricks hit the table hard, but two Baneblades proved to be a massive problem all game. Doc took the first turn and pushed aggressively into the midboard, advancing everything and presenting a wall of targets.

Dan answered with a huge opening salvo, cutting one of the Baneblades down to half wounds and getting stuck into the Bullgryn in the centre. A timely Heroic Intervention from a second Bullgryn squad turned the middle of the board into a brutal grind that lasted for most of the game.

Turns two and three were absolutely bloody. Baneblade firepower eventually reached deep into Dan’s backfield, taking out both the Ballistus Dreadnought and the Repulsor Executioner. From there, Dan was fighting with limited resources, but he kept playing the mission and managed to claw back a very respectable 15 secondary points across the final two turns.

Final score: Doc 100 – Dan 50

One of the things we love about this league is that every game is competitive, played in a great spirit, and gives everyone a chance to improve. Our tiered league format means players get regular games, learn from each matchup, and build a stronger local community.

MESBG Battle Chronicle – Destroy the Supplies (500 Points)

Phil – Muster of Isengard
Craig – Kingdom of Khazad-Dûm

A tense 500-point clash tonight in Destroy the Supplies, with the battle hinging on a dramatic late-game push from Isengard.

For most of the game, the fighting was concentrated in the centre of the battlefield. The Dwarves formed a stubborn battle line while the Uruk-hai pressed forward, with neither side able to gain a decisive advantage through the middle turns.

Saruman proved to be a constant threat, repeatedly using Compel to drag King Durin out of favourable combats and disrupt the Dwarven battle line. Gríma Wormtongue was equally influential, getting in Durin’s way at key moments and severely limiting the impact of the Khazad-Dûm king.

On the flank, the Dwarves launched an outflanking manoeuvre with archers and shield-bearing warriors, hoping to threaten Isengard’s supplies. However, the Uruk-hai contingent on that side held firm and prevented any of their supplies from being destroyed.

One of the game’s biggest moments came when the Dwarves came within inches of killing the Isengard banner. A series of clutch banner re-rolls kept it alive, allowing it to escape and continue supporting the Uruk-hai line.

The decisive play came in Turn 5, when Isengard broke through into the Dwarven backfield and successfully destroyed a supply cache. From that point, the Dwarves were forced onto the defensive, pulling back to protect their remaining supplies. Once the army was broken, repeated failed Courage tests began to take their toll, and the force eventually collapsed to the point of being quartered.

Muster of Isengard – 18
Kingdom of Khazad-Dûm – 1

A great example of how MESBG games can turn on a handful of heroic actions, magic, and late-game objective pressure.

**GST 40K League – Round 1 Wrap-Up**

Round 1 is officially in the books, and what a start to the league! We had some huge results, a few absolute blowouts, and plenty of great games across the tables.

Great day of Warhammer 40,000 at our 1,000-point event today.

Three games, some incredible armies on display, and some really strong games across the day. The best part, though, was the sportsmanship. Everyone brought a great attitude, and that’s exactly the kind of community we’re building here.

It was awesome to see new players getting involved and feeling welcome. That’s something we’re really proud of, and it’s what makes these events so enjoyable to be part of.

**Warhammer 40,000 this Sunday in Albany!**

**WATC Wrap-Up – GSTG Black Team**

A massive congratulations to the GSTG Black Team on an outstanding WATC weekend, finishing **10th overall** with **3 wins and 2 losses**.

The team featured **Nate (Adepta Sororitas), Mike (Chaos Space Marines), Ben (Adeptus Mechanicus), Marcus (Chaos Knights), Fil (Thousand Sons), and Jason (Adeptus Custodes)**.

What makes the result even more impressive is that the two losses came against the **South Australian team** and a side largely made up of **Australian team-level players**. Finishing 10th against that level of competition is a fantastic achievement.

Fil had a particularly strong weekend, claiming his **first ever WATC win in round one** and backing it up with several tightly contested games. His round two loss was incredibly narrow and likely swings with a fifth turn, while his game into Blood Angels came down to the final secondary draw. Even the tougher matchups against a highly tuned Tau list and Necrons provided valuable lessons and showed how much his game improved across the weekend.

The biggest takeaway was the team’s resilience and steady improvement throughout the event. Everyone contributed, the lists performed well, and the experience gained against some of the strongest teams in the country will only make the squad stronger.

A huge effort from the entire Black Team. **10th place at WATC** is a result the club can be incredibly proud of, and they represented GSTG brilliantly all weekend.
