⚔️ Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition Battle Report ⚔️
Another great game of 11th Edition this week as Stan’s Leagues of Votann Mercenary Oathband faced off against Doc’s Leagues of Votann Hearthband.
Stan drew the Take Hold force disposition with the Determined Takeover primary mission, while Doc took Disruption with Death Trap. The new mission system continues to create very different games, with both players approaching the battlefield from completely different angles.
One of the biggest takeaways was how different terrain and objectives feel in 11th Edition. Objectives are easier to attack, harder to defend, and the new Secondary Mission deck adds plenty of variety and tactical decision-making.
Doc deployed aggressively, pushing Hearthguard forward to threaten Stan’s expansion objective early. Stan responded hard, wiping out four of Doc’s units on that flank, but the commitment created an opening elsewhere.
The following turn, Doc’s Hearthguard struck back and cleared much of Stan’s presence from that side of the board. At the same time, Hernkyn Pioneer bikers, Brokhyr Thunderkyn with graviton weapons, and a Hekaton Land Fortress secured the opposite flank and began collapsing towards the centre.
With both armies initially concentrated around the middle, Stan was forced to choose where to commit his response. While one flank was contained, pressure from the other side steadily built and eventually rolled into the centre objectives.
By turn three, the game had become a brutal close-range fight in the middle of the board. Several key charges looked set to decide the battle, but the momentum had shifted too far and Stan was unable to recover.
A fantastic game and another great example of how dynamic 11th Edition can be. The new force dispositions, primary missions and secondary objectives are already creating memorable battles and tough tactical decisions from deployment to the final turn.
