Presidents Message :

The Rotary Club of Thuringowa Central meets on Wednesday evenings 6:00 for a 6:30 pm start at Tom's Tavern, Nathan Street, Aitkenvale, Townsville. The Club has an active membership of males and females representing a broad cross section of society sharing in friendship and community spirit, acting locally to make both Townsville and the wider community we live in a better pl

ace. In past years, by raising funds thru the then 4 Rotary Markets in Townsville, we have been able to help local sporting clubs assist the community to become more active, ensure local primary school children have breakfast before starting their day learning at school, the Townsville Astronomy Club reach for the stars, Queensland Mates in Construction assist in su***de prevention in the Construction / Mining Industry, further afield assisting an orphanage in Vietnam to have a clean reliable water supply, providing School Equipment in Indonesia, as well as supporting Rotary International in our fight for the eradication of Polio, preventing Malaria in PNG and ensuring clean water and sanitation in various projects abroad plus so much more. All this with the extra bonus of meeting and building friendships with a lot of like minded people who live less for self and more to serve. Laurie Nolan PHF

After a tetris build to get the Start Up Kits in the cars, they have been delivered to Althea Projects Inc. to assist DV victims and those who are getting their first unit after homelessness etc
The kits contain basic needs such as sheets, pillows, kettle, toaster, cutlery, dinner set, mugs, cleaning supplies and more. All those things that you need but the expense can be daunting when starting out again. The club delivered 6 kits valued at approx $250 each
A little something to wish those on this journey an easier time.
When you support Willows Rotary Markets and Townsville Rotary Markets you are supporting our fundraising to support our local community.

A great meeting last night. We heard from Paraplegic Benefit Fund Australia about the great work they do.
Our friend Hollingsworth visited from Vanuatu to talk about the water project we are helping him with. Great to meet Hollingsworth in person.

Our friend President Lou Lodge visited from Saints and no surprise, had raffle tickets for sale to help fund Rotary Club of Townsville Saints great projects.

But even more exciting, President Jacky Stein had the pleasure of inducting Michael Pugh into Rotary
