End Polio Movie Night
On Thursday 22 October 2026, we'll be gathering at Event Cinemas Earlville for an exclusive screening of the new Australian documentary Guided by Horses.
This is much more than just a movie. Guided by Horses tells the story of a remarkable real-life project in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, where communities are confronting what has been described as one of the highest rates of teenage su***de in the world. The documentary follows a horse-based retreat program that is helping vulnerable young people reconnect with horses, and through that process, learn to reconnect with themselves, build confidence, find purpose, and begin a journey of healing.
It's a powerful, moving, and uniquely Australian story that shines a light on both a significant challenge and an inspiring community-led solution.
At the same time, your attendance will help Rotary continue its work to eradicate polio worldwide. While enormous progress has been made over recent decades, wild poliovirus has not yet been eliminated. As of 22 September 2026, there have been 36 reported cases in Afghanistan and 4 in Pakistan, compared with 21 cases in Afghanistan and 31 in Pakistan during 2025. This reminds us that until polio is eradicated everywhere, children remain at risk everywhere.
The good news is that every standard ticket purchased for this event will help fund approximately 145 polio vaccines, protecting children from a disease that Rotary and its partners are working hard to eliminate forever.
