We are currently recruiting for four exciting new roles:
• Director of Services and Member Engagement

• Research and Data Analyst
• Prevention and Community Education Officer

These roles can be based anywhere in Queensland (hybrid working arrangements if based in Brisbane).

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June).

This year’s theme, All In, is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day. It reminds us that reconciliation is not a spectator sport – it requires all of us to listen, learn, build relationships, and take meaningful action to create lasting change.

At The Women’s Centre, we acknowledge the strength, resilience and enduring cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognise that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility and that meaningful progress comes through respect, truth-telling, understanding and working together.

This National Reconciliation Week, we encourage our community to reflect on what being All In means and to consider the actions we can each take to contribute to a more just, equitable and reconciled Australia.

This year's National Sorry Day theme, From Sorry to Action, reminds us that acknowledging the past is only the beginning.

While saying sorry is important, meaningful change comes through action. We must continue to listen, learn, and work together to address the ongoing impacts of past policies and practices on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Sorry signals compassion. Action delivers justice.

Today, we encourage our community to reflect, participate in truth-telling, and commit to actions that support healing, reconciliation, and self-determination.

National Sorry Day is not just a day of remembrance, It is a call to ensure that our commitment to change continues every day.

The Candlelight Vigil, held on National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day, marks the start of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.

DVNQ, Sera's Women's Shelter and The Women's Centre Townsville invite you to join us for the annual Candlelight Vigil to remember those who have died due to domestic and family violence, and honour the family and friends who mourn their absence🕯️

Everyone is welcome to attend. Children are welcome at your discretion, acknowledging there will be discussion around death and domestic and family violence
