We had a great day visiting Pinangba – Stagpole Street Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Unit for their 50 Years of Deadly celebrations 🖤💛❤️💚🖤💙🤍

We enjoyed some amazing NAIDOC performances, learnt more about the culturally appropriate healing and support services offered, and were lucky enough to receive a tour of the facilities.

There was also some beautiful artwork on display by Art/Designs by kailin 🎨✨

Last Friday, the Sharehouse team had the pleasure of attending Carinity Education Shalom’s NAIDOC celebration.
It was a wonderful day of celebrating culture, connection and community, with performances from the students, activities and opportunities to come together and celebrate First Nations culture.

Yesterday, the Sharehouse team had the opportunity to visit the Australian Red Cross Townsville Wellbeing Centre ❤️

We loved learning more about the incredible support they provide to people travelling to Townsville for medical treatment, as well as their families and loved ones. The centre provides a welcoming home-away-from-home, along with practical support and wellbeing services to help make what can be a difficult time a little easier.

It was wonderful to see the care and community connection that goes into supporting guests at the centre.

We look forward to exploring how Sharehouse and Australian Red Cross can collaborate in the future to support our community and the people who need it most. 🤝❤️

Thanks to the ATO Tax Help initiative, free Tax Help appointments are available every Thursday until 31 October at Sharehouse for young people aged 25 and under.

Spots are very limited, so get in quick to secure an appointment!

Eligibility includes:
• Earning around $70,000 or less per year
• Having a simple tax return

This Homelessness Week, the Sharehouse team got out into the community to connect with other homelessness services and show our support.

We attended the Red Cross Homelessness BBQ and the Althea Projects Breakfast BBQ. These events brought people together and helped raise awareness of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness.

This year’s message is Homelessness Action Now. It means we cannot wait to respond. We need to listen to people with lived experience, support local services and help more people find safe and stable housing.
