On behalf of RSL Queensland, we congratulate LTCOL George Hulse OAM on being awarded The RSL Anzac Peace Prize for 2026.

Through decades of dedicated voluntary leadership within the RSL, particularly as President of Toowong RSL Sub Branch, George has worked tirelessly to ensure the service, sacrifice and legacy of veterans is never forgotten. His commitment to remembrance and community exemplifies the values this prestigious award seeks to recognise.

Most recently, George played a significant role in the gifting of a Bailey Bridge to France as a permanent memorial to the Australia-France partnership forged during the First World War. Dedicated at Amiens during the 2024 Bridge of Friendship ceremony, the memorial stands as a powerful symbol of remembrance, reconciliation and enduring peace between nations.

George, thank you for your outstanding service to RSL Queensland and the wider RSL, and veteran community.

What do scooters, mateship and supporting veterans have in common? Scootaville. 🛵

Held each year, riders take to 110cc motor scooters and travel across Australia to raise funds for Legacy Australia and Air Force Association - National, while bringing together Defence personnel, families and supporters.

The Scootaville riders departed from Kedron-Wavell RSL Sub Branch last Sunday, and will return to Chermside on 29 August after a round trip to Kingaroy.

From cheering in the stands to receiving a lasting token of appreciation, the Dolphins NRL have shown incredible support for our veteran community. 🐬

Following the Dolphins' Round 9 clash against the Melbourne Storm, RSL Brisbane North District President and veteran Mark Orreal was presented with a team-signed ANZAC Round jersey on behalf of Brisbane North District at the club's Captain's Run in May.

The jersey will be proudly displayed within the District as a lasting symbol of the respect shown to veterans and their families.

Today on Vietnam Veterans’ Day, we recognise the invaluable contributions of those who served and sacrificed during Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War.

This year, we commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. Fought in 1966 between Australian and New Zealand forces, and the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese troops.

The Battle of Long Tan was one of the most significant engagements for Australian service personnel of the Vietnam War.

The men of D Company, 6 RAR and a New Zealand artillery team were heavily outnumbered by the Viet Cong but still prevailed against the odds. Victory came at a terrible cost, with 18 soldiers killed in action, and another 24 wounded, one of whom died nine days later. The battle was a defining action of the war, and its anniversary now marks the day when all those who served and sacrificed for Australia in Vietnam are honoured.

Join us in remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice and recognising the veterans who continue to serve their communities with pride and dedication.

Victory in the Pacific Day (also known as VP Day) commemorates Japan’s unconditional surrender to the Allies on 15 August 1945 and the end of World War II.

On VP Day, we remember Australia's war efforts in the Pacific region from 1942 to 1945 and during which more than 39,000 Australians lost their lives.

As we commemorate this anniversary, we encourage our community to reflect on and honour all those who served and contributed to the defence of Australia during WWII.

The Belinda McGowan Foundation has reached an incredible milestone, delivering 25 Cuddle Beds to hospitals and healthcare facilities across Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia. Established in memory of Flight Lieutenant Belinda McGowan, the Foundation works to improve end-of-life care by helping patients and their loved ones stay close during life's most difficult moments.

These beds offer more than practical support, they provide our veteran families a precious opportunity to share time, conversation and comfort when it matters the most. 💜

Healing from trauma isn't easy, but with the right support, recovery is possible.

The founders of PTSD Resurrected inc, veteran Andy Cullen and his wife, Zoe, turned their experience into purpose.

This three-day, peer-led program is designed to help current and ex-serving Defence members, and their families, navigate trauma, PTSD and moral injury.

Through the REBOOT Trauma Recovery program, veterans and their families can find hope, healing, and a renewed sense of purpose.

This program is proudly funded by RSL Queensland, ensuring no cost barriers to participation.
